Luca is still in the hospital but the other two left after a couple of days. James Rillin stayed with them the whole of the time and continued to stay even when it was only Luca.
They didn't talk about what happened, the question lingered in Aviana's and James's minds though. Luca and Adonis didn't talk about what happened, they wanted to forget about it.
But she had to know, she wanted to find out.
"Luca, Adonis, what happened that night?" She looked at both of them, they glanced at each other. Luca sighed.
"The first step to getting rid of your mother, Adonis's curse. We needed it gone but she came and she tried to hurt him. I stepped in front of him, I'm sure you know the rest." Luca sighed again. They were having dinner, he set his fork down.
"Getting rid of the curse could get rid of my memories so I made a tape to help me remember." Adonis said and set down his fork as well.
"I should've known that she would've come. I wasn't prepared, I thought the shield would've been enough. I'm sorry, I messed up." Luca laid back down. He was still in the hospital and was eating in bed. He felt like crap, his curse had been placed in action. He was weaker.
His curse wasn't meant for those still alive, so it's eating away at him. Soon he'll die and the last of his soul will go to Hell.
"Stop, it's not your fault. Things happen, we need to find a way to get you out of the hospital and better."
"I agree, they won't let you out because you are a mystery to them. You can back from the dead and you are sick with something they've never seen. I mean they put you into isolation, they took all those weird tests and stuff. The last thing they want is for you to leave." James said and leaned back in his seat.
There was a plastic wall between Luca and the other three. He was being monitored and had a team of nurses and doctors. He was hooked up to an IV and had a bunch of other thing hooked up to him.
He smiled weakly and looked down. He knew that he wasn't going to make it.
"Why don't you guys go? I'm sure you have things to do, I'm going to go to sleep." Luca closed his eyes. They all stood up and left one by one, James last.
He didn't want to leave but knew that Luca would want him to. Seeing him like that hurt all of them, James the most.
After all he raised him, he taught him to ride a bike. He held a birthday party every year for him and went to his high school graduation. He helped him with his homework on the rare occasion he didn't know. He helped him get a job and bought him clothes. He thought of him like a son, and the pain of losing a child is horrible. He may not have been related by blood but James Rillin thought of him like one and adopted him. And he was now seeing his son slowly die.
Luca laid on his side, the beeping on the monitor and his heavy breathing were the only sounds in the room. He was staring at the corner, tears slowly leaving his eyes. The beeping may have been the only sounds the normal humans could hear but he heard so much more.
.....
"Is he crying?" A male nurse asked, while looking at the monitor and eating.
"Yeah, poor guy. Comes back from the dead only to be locked away." The female nurse replied.
"Yeah no kidding. I would rather die than be sick like him." He replied back.
"Don't say that! Go throw away the plates, I'll watch him." He nodded and left, she sat down in the chair and watched him. Luca was tossing and turning, he started to sweat like crazy. She leaned in, trying to see him better. She grabbed the phone and dialed.
"I know I'm only supposed to call if something happens, but I think something just did. I don't know though it might just be his fever or a bad dream. I think it's worth checking out though." She waited a bit to hear her bosses reply and hung up. She waited until she saw them enter the room.
The screen was blurry and the color more blue than in real life but she could see enough. They walked in with suits, covering their whole bodies. The two walked in and checked his vitals and then checked him. Shining a light into his eyes and whatnot.
The screen started to act up, and he started to shake. She looked closer, almost standing. Her face only inches away from the screen, her breath stopped for a second. And she fell, she then ran out and into Luca's room. They tried to stop her, as she wasn't wearing a suit.
"Who was she? Who did you let in? Let go! She was just there!" She pointed to the camera. They turned and looked at each other.
"Very funny Lee, now can you please go back to work?" Her boss pushed her back, she walked away not wanting to be called insane. But she knew what she saw, and she wasn't going to let it go. She called up James and had him come.
"Sorry to bother you Mr. Rillin, but have you lost a loved one?" She asked, he was confused but cooperated.
"I suppose you can say that, why do you ask?" He was sitting in the room she was monitoring Luca in.
"Was she Luca Pilieo's mother or friend?" She asked, her head still looking at the monitor. Her leg was shaking and she looked anxious.
"She? How did you know?" He leaned forward.
"I saw her. She looked at me through the camera." She pointed to the camera. Her finger was shaking, her voice kept breaking.
"But she didn't look normal, she looked wrong. She looked like she was twisted and, and broken. And her smile was horribly wide," She started to cry, he pulled her into a hug to comfort her.
"She had no eyes." She whispered, he shushed her and patted her back. After a few minutes after she calmed down and was ready to talk.
"Her name was Aldiva, she wasn't Luca's mother. But he knew her for a bit of time, he was there when she died. She was always evil but I didn't want to see it, when she died she cursed three people. One of the three is already dead, another is in that room. And the last is our daughter." She gasped lightly.
"Why would she curse her?"
"She was a cruel woman and never thought less of herself. She never made a mistake, not until she had out daughter. But she wouldn't even think that her death was solely her fault. Luca's curse would only start after he died. Now that he did and came back, it started. My poor boy is suffering because of her." He sighed to stop himself from crying.
"What can I do to help?" She smiled to him and put her hand on his.
"You mean that? You really believe me?" She nodded.
"Well then...."
