Zuko's POV
I couldn't stop thinking about what Mai said to me earlier, and I hate to admit it but she has a reason to be mad with me. I never take her advice, because it's usually bad advice. but still. I need to think differently about my father. I don't need his approval anymore.
the ball rang to show it was the end of class, I got up and packed my books into my bag, it was physical education next, I walked out the class room and down the stairs, I'll spend break with my sister and her friends today, I should maybe apologise to Mai.
"excuse me!", a happy voice laughed as I heard it behind me, I turned around to see the new boy slide down the banister and fall right on to me, I groaned before pushing him off. "you'll regret that you little-", before I could finish the boy was already running down the corridors, he was fast. I chased after him.
"Hey slow down!", I continued to follow him before finding myself with many different ways to go, not knowing where he went I gave up. "urgh!" I huffed before walking away. I hate it when things don't go my way. I get so enraged and I'll fixate on it for the rest of the day. I made my way to the gazebo my sister sits at for break, seeing her there I sit down.
"have you seen the new kid at all today?", I put my bag down and let myself drop down on the seat, stretching across it lazily as I pant from chasing the boy. "no, I haven't, why? have you?", Azula's sharp eyes darted towards me as she questioned.
"I just saw him, and he was breaking all the rules you put in place, he slid down the banisters, ran down the halls, and was extremely loud", I got my breath back and sat up straight looking around then back at Azula. "wow, and for a monk I thought the new kid would be pretty tame huh 'Zula?", Tylee looked at me then looked at Azula, constantly looking at her for approval, like some kind of puppy waiting for their owner to give them a treat, she'd have to be waiting a long time for Azula to be nice to her for sure.
"really? well that's interesting. I checked your time table, you have physical education with the boy. see what he's like and report back to me Zuzu, I'll deal with him", Azula didn't look back at Tylee but kept her eyes on me, watching my every move.
"of course Azula", I may have said that but I didn't mean it, I could deal with this monk myself, I have some authority and intimidation too. I won't let him fall on top of me and disgrace my honour, all for him to get away with it. "I better go get ready". I got up and left, Azula isn't the boss of me.
Aang's POV
I outran that angry looking student, I may have accidentally bumped into him whilst taking a short cut but it shouldn't be that much of a big deal, I'm sure we'll be friends by the hour.
"hello? hello? are you there?", I'm sure she was here, the girl with black hair that I saw from the class room. I looked down and saw a ball and picked it up. "you left your ball?", I heard no reply and sighed, I should probably go look elsewhere and give her the ball back.
I checked what I had next seeing I had physical education, maybe I'll get to play something, I made my way around the school looking for the changing rooms to get ready, I found one with the sign of a person on it. this must be it. I walked in but little did I know it was full of girls, I felt them push me out.
My face turned crimson. I should apologise, I turned to go back in then sighed, wait I can't go in. I opened the door slightly so I could speak to them. "I'm sorry for walking in on you all! I'm just lost, where am I supposed to change?", I moved back as the door opened a little wider, a girl with short ginger hair raised her brow at me.
"you must be the new kid. you walked into the girls changing rooms buddy. your one is just down there. It's like the symbol on this door but no skirt. okay?" Suki said with a small smile before closing the door again. "great. thanks", I smiled back then felt someone grab my shirt collar holding me back.
"what're you doing talking to Suki", Sokka furrowed his brows, "I was just lost and she helped direct me in the direction I'm going, her names Suki? that's a pretty name", I felt Sokka push me forward. "yeah well don't get any ideas, that's my girl okay?", Sokka walked with me to the changing room.
Suki's POV
the new kid really seems lost, not just in the school but, in this modern world, I guess it must be hard being a monk brought up traditionally in a school of teenagers. "that kid was such a creep", "I bet he knew exactly where he was going", "so gross". I heard girls make harsh comments about his mistake but it wasn't his fault.
"leave him alone okay? he was lost. give him a break", Katara put her bag down as she walked in the changing room, this turned the comments more into crush talk. "ooh Katara's got a crush on the new kid?", "you're so protective over you precious baby boy huh?". Katara turned back at the girls, an angry look on her face, something that could intimidate anyone. the room fell silent before she spoke.
"listen. just leave him alone. how would you feel if you were like him, completely clueless, and you walked into the boys changing room not knowing what to do and they say this about you behind your back", the girls looked away in shame. "yeah, that's what I thought", Katara finished what she wanted to say and started to get changed. The room stayed silent.
I walked over to her and sat beside her on the bench after she finished changing. "hey, you seem to be holding a lot of tension, what's up?", we don't usually talk but I am dating her brother, I care about her. "I just have a lot on my plate Suki", Katara sighed and rested her head on my shoulder, she always has a lot on her plate, no wonder she's so snappy and stressed.
"take it easy today, maybe sit out with Toph this session", I stood up and helped her up with me, Toph was sat down not wearing her gym clothes, as she couldn't see it would be unfair for her to play dodgeball with the other girls as she would be at a disadvantage, she sits out every session, Katara shrugged and we made our way into the sports hall.
Katara ended up playing. Only because Azula was on the other side.
