Isinandal ko ang likod sa sandalan ng upuan at tinanaw ang maaliwalas na kalangitan. Nasa bakuran ako ng bahay namin sa Imperyo at nag-iisip isip.
Mula nang magising ako ay wala na akong ibang inalala kung hindi si Daegan. Puro na lang Daegan ang laman ng isip ko, tuloy ay parang gusto ko na siyang bisitahin sa paaralan ngunit pinipilit kong huwag pumunta. Kung ipagpapatuloy ko ang pakikipaglapit sa kaniya ay malalagay lang sa panganib ang buhay niya.
Marahan kong pinatunog ang mga daliri dahil sa biglaang kabang bumalot sa puso ko. Kahit layuan ko siya ngayon ay alam kong hindi naman siya lulubayan ni Kieran. I'm afraid that because of his desperation to defeat me, he will use Daegan just to win, and I am aware he will never hesitate to kill him in front of me just to taste how weak I am when it comes to Daegan.
Nagbuntong hininga ako. If I just knew I'd be in this situation someday, I should have ignored him the moment I laid my eyes on him. He may have a peaceful life now. Damn me for putting him in trouble. If I could just kill that cousin of mine so I would be free from this frustration, I would do that without thinking twice.
"I never see you in this situation. Thinking so deeply as if you are drawn from your thoughts."
Napatingin ako sa babaeng naupo sa kaharap kong upuan. She smiled at me when our eyes met. I smiled at her back. "Is loving a human really against our law?" Parang tangang tanong ko.
My mother chuckled, causing me to frown. "Why? Is my heartless daughter in love with a human?"
"Mom it's not like that--"
"There's no such law that says we can't love whoever we want to love, but in your case, you are a princess. You can't just choose whoever you want to love because you are destined to marry a man from a royal family."
Tumango-tango ako at ibinalik ang tingin sa kalangitan. "Even if I'm not destined to marry someone from a royal family, I can't still choose him. I have responsibilities. I have goals, and I don't want to be defeated by Kieran."
"Are you talking about that human? What is his name again? Daegan?"
"Mama, papa may hear you so lower your voice."
She shook her head in amusement. "I can't believe someone just tamed my daughter's cold heart. That guy might be something to make you feel that way."
Napatsk na lang ako sa narinig. "Nothing's special about him actually. He's talentless but what confuses me is that his ability isn't normal."
"What do you mean?"
"His blood... it smells like a red rose. He's fast as me. Puwede ko nang isiping bampira din siya pero hindi naman niya kayang mag-teleport. Kumakain din siya ng pagkain ng mga tao para mabuhay."
"You know, a vampire can pretend to be a human; maybe he's also a vampire, but he's just hiding the truth."
"I don't know. He's a hundred percent sure that he isn't a vampire but, he has katana form a royal vampire."
Sandaling natahimik ang aking ina. "Maybe he's from Demon Empire?"
"Demon Empire?" I chuckled. "Vampires from that empire are the fastest, powerful and scary. But as I told you, he cannot teleport. I can still easily defeat him if he's not holding that katana."
"Did Hinami meet this guy? You know her ability. She can see the future and the deepest secret of someone."
Nagbuntong hininga ako. "Kahit magkita sila ay hindi pa rin magsasalita ang babaeng iyon. She wants a peacefull life kaya hindi niyon ibubuka ang bibig na maaaring ikapahamak niya."
