YOU LOOKED SADLY INTO THE WINDOWPANE OF DILUC'S ROOM,
your hand pressed up against the glass as the snowflakes fell onto the piles of snow outside. Today was supposed to be the Christmas party with the knights of favonius, but just as you were about to leave, a snowstorm had arrived and the party had been cancelled.
Of course you were really disappointed, having prepared many gifts and excited to spend time with all your friends without worrying about something being in danger or under attack. Your Christmas spirit was simply crushed and now you had no clue what to do.
A few minutes later, Diluc had entered the room with two cups of hot chocolate. "Evening, (Y/n)." He spoke, as he stood beside you to hand you the hot drink. "Hi, Diluc..." you uttered back with a brittle voice before taking a tiny sip of your drink. Diluc couldn't help but feel worried despite already having a plan to make you feel better. His arm gently went over your shoulder to pull you closer to him.
"I know, it really is unfortunate but, it's Christmas and I don't want you to be sad tonight."
You looked up at him quizzically. "What do you mean?" He only shot you a small grin as he took your hand in his. "Come with me." And with that he led you to the living room and your eyes widened. There were pillows and blankets around the area, as well as a plate of chocolate chip cookies and marshmallows for your cocoa, along with the fire that was lit up to warm you both during this chilly winters night.
"Umm.. do you like it?" Diluc asked, his thumb caressing the skin on your hand. Your eyes had softened and a blush crept on your cheeks. "Diluc... it's perfect."
Diluc, with his hand still intertwined with yours, led you to sit next to him on the couch. "Oh, and one more thing." He turned around briefly to reach for your favorite pair of fuzzy socks. "Oh yes!" You smiled, taking the socks and slipping them onto your feet. Of course, Diluc had his own pair and he slipped them on too.
He then took a wool blanket and draped it over your shoulders. "Are you warm?" You nodded with a wide smile, causing Diluc to do the same along with a fit of butterflies in his stomach.
"Thanks, Diluc.. it's really sweet of you to do this." You spoke, voice trailing off due to how flustered you felt before dropping marshmallows into your cocoa. "I really didn't want to see you upset so I thought this would make you smile at least."
You couldn't help but giggle before taking a long sip of your cocoa which now foamed with melted mallows. Diluc couldn't stop himself from staring at your red cheeks, small smile and the marshmallow foam that rested above your upper lip.
"You got something over there.."
"Hm?"
"Right here.." Diluc wiped the mallow foam away with his thumb, causing your cheeks to redden. Right on that moment, you had fallen in love with him all over again, and you quickly placed your cup down and leapt into his arms, surprising him. "I'm glad I got to spend Christmas with you.." you whimpered into his chest whilst his arms wrapped around your waist with his chin resting atop your head.
"Me too, (Y/n)."
You then pulled yourself up to brush your lips against his and Diluc immediately brought his hand to your cheek to pull you even closer.
When you parted, Diluc had a genuinely loving smile on his lips before diving down for another quick peck. "You feeling better?" You nodded sheepishly as you plopped yourself back on his chest while entangling your legs with his. "That's good, merry Christmas, (Y/n). I love you.."
Your stomach felt so fuzzy that it started to get ticklish but you resisted the urge to squirm.
"Merry Christmas, Diluc and I love you too.."
The rest of the evening you both ate cookies and drank cocoa until eventually you had fallen asleep on top of Diluc with your arms wrapped loosely around his waist and your head resting on his chest.
Diluc took the wool blanket and covered the both of you and ran his fingers through your (h/c) hair with his head leaning against the arm of the couch before falling asleep himself.
On days like these with Diluc, it was definitely warmer in the winter.
