They scream, silent
Is there any way for me to wake up?
Wake up, wake up from this nightmare
Fear the unknown

Steve Rogers found solace in his training at the gym, a relief from the sleepless nights that haunted him since was found. Adapting to the modern world after being frozen for seventy years wasn't a smooth transition.
"Captain," a voice interrupted the rhythmic thumps in the otherwise silent gym. Steve turned to face the intruder, recognizing Nick Fury, the director of Shield.
"Fury," Steve acknowledged, resuming his training routine. Fury observed him for a few moments before his persistent gaze compelled Steve to stop. "What's the mission?"
"We've caught wind of two assassins, wanted by every international security agency, including ours. We need you to retrieve them. You're the best fit for the job," Fury explained.
"Why me?" Steve inquired, a touch of frustration in his voice. "You have a lot of more than capable agents."
"Because one of the assassins is Forsaken. Ten of my agents encountered her before, and they all returned in body bags. You're the only one we believe can handle her. As for the other assassin, we have little information, only that they're involved," Fury revealed.
Steve slung his gym bag over his shoulder, indicating his acceptance of the mission. Fury continued, "There's a file with everything we know about Forsaken. You leave tomorrow at 6 am sharp. Thank you for doing this, Captain."
Steve sighed, a mixture of reluctance and duty in his voice. "Yeah, yeah. You're welcome."
The lights in Semenov's facility blared a vivid red, flashing every two seconds, accompanied by a deafening alarm resonating throughout the building. Chaos ensued as people rushed about, clutching files on their hands and guns in their pockets.
"Doctor Semenov, code red!" one of the guards came running to the doctor's lab, "Shield is here!"
"They can't know Hydra is still active. You two," he gestured to his assistants, "wipe everything in the computers, I'll go get the Winter Soldier, he's awake."
"What about Forsaken?" the guard asked him.
"Leave her; we don't have time to wake her up. Now, let's get going. They will be inside in just a few minutes!" Doctor Semenov hurried to the room where the Winter Soldier resided. "Soldier, we have been discovered. We have to leave. Now."
He looked at the doctor, "What about Forsaken? We can't leave her."
"We have to. She's still in cryo and we don't have time. If we don't leave now, Shield will seize everything we have, including you. Let's go. Now, soldier!" Semenov left his room running. The soldier had to find her before he left. He grabbed a piece of paper, wrote something and then left.
Locating her cryo chamber, he attempted to open it. It resisted, prompting him to punch it with his metal arm, finally granting access. Forsaken felt colder than the Siberian winters. He tried to rouse her, but she remained motionless. The voices of approaching Shield agents echoed in the background.
"I will come back to you," he vowed before slipping the note into her jacket pocket and leaving.
Steve Rogers and his team successfully infiltrated the secret Siberian base. The frightening silence surrounded every room, each one empty, except for a solitary woman. She was in a deep sleep, unresponsive to her surroundings.
"This must be her, Captain," one of the agents told him, "There is no one else here, only her. What should we do?"
"We're taking her back to Shield. She must be Forsaken," Steve picked her up in his arms, "I will carry her to the Quinjet, and we will restrain her there. She could wake up any second now."
"So, is she really Forsaken?" Steve inquired of Nick Fury.
"She is. People who have seen her and lived to tell the story say it's definitely her. She woke up a few minutes ago. It took six of my strongest man to hold her down while the doctor administered a sedative. She wouldn't stop screaming and fighting everyone."
"What about her real identity? Do you know her real name?"
"I do, actually. She was listed as a missing person since 1999. Her name is Alice Miller. She was kidnapped after school when she was coming back to the orphanage she used to live in", Nick Fury explained, "We think she's the one who murdered the matron of the orphanage, Pamela Davis, back in 2003. Whoever took her didn't want anyone who knew about her true identity alive."
"And who took her?"
"We don't know yet. That base had nothing that could help us find out for whom she works. We just know she has an incredible set of skills, most likely due to experiments and training. Actually, her powers are just like yours, stronger even. Whoever took her also brainwashed her. She has no recollection of her past life, not even her name. She keeps screaming her name is Forsaken, or soldier 34983."
"Do you think I can talk to her?" Steve asked eagerly. The soldier had awakaned a new type of curiosity inside him. A person who had almost the same powers has him wasn't a thing he saw every day.
"We have a team of doctors and psychiatrists working on her, Captain. I think that's enough."
"Just... Just let me give it a try, okay? Maybe I can get through her."
"Alright." Fury turned around and retrieved something from his desk drawer. "Take this. It was hidden in her pocket. Maybe it will help."
Steve grabbed what was on Fury's hand, which turned out to be a piece of paper. He carefully unfolded it, revealing what was written inside: We got each other.
Captain Rogers entered the room where Forsaken was staying. She was lying on a stretcher, with handcuffs on each wrist, holding her down. Forsaken was awake, just staring at the ceiling.
"Hello, Alice. My name is Steve Rogers" he announced himself as he entered the room. She quickly sat up on her bed, trying to break the handcuffs that were holding her. "Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to talk to you, that's it."
"My name is not Alice. My name is FORSAKEN!" she yelled at him, rage filling her eyes.
"We found this inside the pocket of your jacket; I thought you might want it back." Steve opened the piece of paper and showed the writing that was inside, "Did you write this?"
"No."
"Do you know who wrote this?"
"No." Not even a split of emotion was shown on her face. It was as if she wasn't even a person, only a weapon.
"Come on Alice, I'm just trying to help you." Steve pleaded.
"STOP CALLING ME THAT! THAT'S NOT MY NAME! MY! NAME! IS! FORSAKEN!" She managed to break the handcuffs and attacked Steve, punching him as hard as she could, but there were still sedatives on her system, so she was not using her full strength.
"Calm down, Alice!" Steve ordered, but she ignored him and kept punching his face.
Soon, the room was filled with doctors, unsure of what to do. Steve finally managed to pin her down by her wrists, "Give her a sedative! Now!" One of the doctors quickly grabbed a needle and injected it on her right arm, knocking her out almost instantly. Steve carefully picked her up and put her back on her bed. "We're gonna need something stronger to hold her down," he told the doctors, who all nodded in agreement. Before leaving, Steve left the piece of paper in her hand, hoping that it would help her to remember at least something.
