And when I wake tomorrow I'll bet
That you and I will walk together again
Because I can tell that we are going to be friends
I can tell that we are going to be friends

Several months had passed since Alice's return from Asgard, marking a period of isolation and inner instability. During the initial three months, she kept to herself withing the confines of her apartment, rejecting concerned calls and messages from her friends. Despite having Steve, Nat, Maria, Tony, Clint, and Bruce by her side, an overwhelming sense of loneliness persisted. Losing the Winter Soldier, her companion from the shadows of her dark past, and Loki, the first person she had truly loved, left her fighting with an intense feeling of abandonment. Although Loki was still alive, the wounds left by faking his death ran deep, challenging the very foundation of trust they had built.
In the fourth month post-Asgard, Alice decided it was time to re-enter the world. Transferred to Washington by Fury due to her important role in the battle of New York, she resumed her duties as one of Shield's top-ranking agents. A new apartment on Connecticut Avenue, adjacent to Steve's, became her residence, while her place in Harlem remained a cherished refuge. It was her home.
Living next to Steve Rogers brought both friendship and challenges. Evenings of shared dinners and movie night were countered by early morning jogs and gym sessions orchestrated by the captain. Steve's untiring commitment to fitness clashed with Alice's desire for a more relaxed way to start the day.
"Wake up, Alice, we're already late," Steve nagged her from the edge of her bed. It was mornings like these that she deeply regretted ever giving a key to her apartment to him.
"I'm tired, Steve. I don't wanna go," she complained, her head buried in the pillow.
"If you're not ready in five minutes, I swear, I'll pick you up myself," Steve threatened, prompting Alice to begrudgingly comply.
As they jogged around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Steve's banter about her slower pace filled the air.
"Why are you so slow this morning?" Steve asked, easing his pace. "You're usually three laps ahead of me."
"I'm just not feeling it today, nothing wrong," she truthfully responded. "Just go ahead, I'll catch up in a few minutes, don't worry.
The captain chuckled, "Well, we'll see about that." Steve sped up, leaving Alice to navigate the park at her own pace. Passing her, he playfully said, "On your left," winking as he went by.
"So, he's making fun of you too?" A man suddenly appeared, startling her. Alice instinctively grabbed him by the neck and pressed him against the bridge. "Hey, calm down!"
