And the arms of the ocean are carrying me

And all this devotion was rushing out of me

And the crashes are heaven for a sinner like me

But the arms of the ocean delivered me

As the moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the Avengers Compound, Alice found herself standing on the rooftop, the cool night air brushing against her skin. The distant sounds of the world below faded into a soft murmur, leaving her alone with her thoughts about the daunting mission ahead. She had just returned to from New Asgard with Bruce, Rocket, and Thor, and the weight of uncertainty pressed heavily on her shoulders.

The sound of footsteps broke her trance, and she turned to see Natasha joining her. Her presence was comforting sight, and Alice smiled, grateful for her friend's company.

"Thought I might find you up here," Natasha said, leaning against the ledge beside Alice. "You okay?"

Alice sighed, glancing out at the horizon. "Just thinking about the time heist. It's risky. We could lose everyone all over again."

Natasha nodded, understanding the turmoil brewing within her. "It's a gamble, but we have to try. We can't let the past dictate our future."

"What if we mess up? What if we don't come back?" Alice's voice was tinged with fear, vulnerability creeping in as she turned to face Natasha. "There's so much at stake."

"We've faced worse," Natasha reassured her, her tone softening. "We fought against Hydra, Ultron, and Thanos. We've lost people, but we've always found a way to keep going. We can't let fear paralyze us."

"Yeah, but this feels different," Alice admitted, her heart heavy. "I can't shake the feeling that this time it might be the end."

Natasha reached out, placing a hand on Alice's shoulder. "Whatever happens, just know that I'm here for you. I love you, you know that? You're my sister. We've always looked out for each other, and that won't change."

Alice smiled, warmth flooding her heart. "I love you too, Nat. I always have. You're my best friend."

Their conversation flowed freely, memories and hopes intertwining as they shared their fears about the future. "Do you remember that time we took down that Hydra base together?" Natasha asked, her eyes sparkling with the recollection. "We were so sure we could handle it, but then we walked right into a trap."

Alice chuckled, shaking her head. "Yeah, and we ended up having to fight our way out. I thought we were done for."

Natasha grinned, her demeanour lightening. "But we made it through. Together."

"Just like we always do," Alice said, a note of determination in her voice. "But now... it's bigger than us. If we fail, we could lose everyone again. I could lose Bucky all over again. I don't know how I'd handle that."
