When the darkness creeps in,

I feel my nightmares watching me

And when my dreams are sleeping,

I feel my nightmares watching me

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alice and Bucky had been living together in Berlin for almost a week. Everything seemed fine, well, almost everything. Both of them had reoccurring nightmares about their old lives. They would often wake up with each other screaming in the middle of the night. When Alice would wake up screaming, Bucky, who was sleeping on the couch while she had the small mattress in the bedroom, tried to ignore it, but it pained him. It hurt him to see her like that, in pain almost every night, without being able to do anything to soothe her. In part, he blamed himself for her being like this. He could have done something while they were at Hydra, he could have helped her escape, he could have killed everyone in the base and run away with her. Most of his nightmares were about her – it was either about someone torturing and killing her, but sometimes it was worse. Sometimes, he would dream about Hydra making him kill her without mercy while she pleaded for her life. Those were the times where Bucky would scream for hours and then wake up in a layer of cold sweat covering his body.

As for Alice, she would have nightmares about turning into Forsaken again or about the people she had killed in the past. Pamela Davies seemed to never leave her mind. She didn't understand how she could have killed the woman who took care for the first fifteen years of her life. Miss Davies was the closest thing she had to a mother – even though she was strict with her sometimes, she always made sure Alice had everything she needed, from clothes, to food, to school supplies. Sometimes she would dream about Loki, about him dying, but for real. She watched the life leave his body, him whispering her name with his last breath.

One night, Alice had the worst nightmare she ever had in her whole life.

"Alice, please, this isn't you," Steve pleaded, with his face filled with cuts, bruises and blood. "You are not Forsaken anymore. You are Alice Miller, you are Onyx, you are an Avenger... You are my best friend, Alice... Please..."

Alice, who was wearing her old Hydra jacket with the red star engraved on it, just smirked at him and punched her hand into his chest, ripping his heart out. She watched Steve's body fell on the floor, lifeless.

She walked into another room where she saw all of her friends dead on the ground – Natasha, Sam and Clint had been shot in the head, Tony's compact arc reactor was next to his body, the Hulk had knives stuck all over his body, and Thor dead. Forsaken had killed every single one of them, but with the help of someone.

"Forsaken," she heard him call from another room. Following the voice, she found the Winter Soldier next doors, holding Loki by his neck, choking him.
