I know I'll be alright
But I'm not tonight
I lost a friend, I lost a friend

After hours of flying, the trio finally arrived at the cold Russian mountains. Silence had enveloped them throughout the journey, each lost in their own thoughts. Alice stole occasional glances at Bucky, her concern evident in her eyes, while he reciprocated the gesture, silently reassuring her with his presence. Their intertwined hands served as a lifeline, offering comfort to each other.
"What's gonna happen to your friends?" Bucky broke the silence.
Steve hesitated before responding, his words heavy with responsibility. "Whatever it is... I'll deal with it."
Bucky released Alice's hand with a sigh, his doubts surfacing. "I don't know if I'm worth all this."
"Buck..." Alice reached out for him again, but he withdrew, grappling with his own self-worth. "If you're not worth it, neither am I."
Steve interjected, acknowledging their past struggles. "What you two did all those years... It wasn't you. You didn't have a choice."
"I know," Buck murmured, his gaze fixed outside the Quinjet's window. Turning to Steve, he confessed, "But we did it."
He regretted saying that in front of her after he saw the look on her face – she was visibly upset, trying to conceal her tears. As Bucky attempted to intertwine their fingers back together, she withdrew, haunted by the memories of her past actions as Forsaken. When she was Indigo, it was different – she killed very bad people who had done terrible things. But when she was Forsaken, she killed innocent people.
The remainder of the trip passed in silence, the tension between Alice and Bucky palpable. Their usual closeness was eclipsed by the weight of their shared past, leaving them adrift in a sea of unresolved emotions.
Moments later, Steve landed the Quinjet. Alice wasted no time, rising from her seat and making her way to a storage compartment marked 'Onyx'. It held her arsenal – knives, guns, and gear essential for their mission. She grabbed a couple of knives and two guns. As she prepared to close the compartment, she caught Bucky's gaze. Grabbing one of the machine guns, she sighed before she gave it to him.
"You two ready?" Steve's inquiry broke the tense atmosphere, drawing their attention.
Bothe Alice and Bucky nodded in affirmation. Making their way to the back of the Quinjet, they awaited the opening of the back door, anticipation coursing through their veins.
Steve attempted to lighten the mood, reminiscing about a past adventure. "You remember that time we had to ride back from Rockaway Beach in the back of that freezer truck?"
