I know I'll see you again, whether far or soon
But I need you to know
That I care and I miss you
Almost a month had passed since Alice went to Tony's house to have dinner with his family. She had been spending her days in her apartment, mostly reading or painting, a new hobby that she had recently picked up. Visiting Natasha was also that was part of her routine – either to have a cup of coffee and talk about what was happening around the world, or to drink endless bottles of wine and gossip about their past.
One sunny afternoon, Alice was lounging on her couch, absently reading a new book, when a familiar name flashed across her screen: Steve. Even though they remained friends after their tumultuous relationship, they had eventually grown apart a little bit. Intrigued, she quickly answered.
"Alice, hey, can you come to the Compound? It's urgent," Steve said, his voice steady but tinged with an unmistakable urgency that piqued her interest.
"Is everything okay?" Alice asked, her heart racing as she leaned forward, the sunlight streaming through her window unnoticed.
"It's... Scott Lang. He's back. He has something important. You need to hear it."
The mention of Scott, Ant-Man, stirred a sense of anticipation within Alice. She had thought he was lost to them, one of the many who had been snapped away by Thanos. The idea that he had returned was electrifying. Scott had always been a beacon of hope and humour, and if he had found a way back, it could mean something monumental. "I'll be there in ten," she replied, grabbing her jacket and rushing out the door, her heart racing with a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
Upon arriving at the Compound, Alice made her way directly to the briefing room, her heart pounding with anticipation. The air inside was charged with an energy that suggested something huge was about to unfold. As she entered, she found Steve, Natasha, and Scott already present, their expression serious and focused. Scott was eating a peanut butter sandwich as if he hadn't eaten something in years.
"Hey, Alice," Steve said, his voice steady, but Alice could see the tension in his posture. Natasha stood beside him, arms crossed, her eyes sharp and analysing.
Before Alice could speak, Scott put down his sandwich and started explaining to her about the Quantum Realm and the possibility of time travel. As Scott laid out his theory, Alice listened intently, the possibilities swirling in her mind. They discussed various time travel mechanics and the potential risks involved. Could this actually work?
Alice's heart raced at the thought. Time travel had always been a far-fetched concept, a theme reserved for comic books and science fiction films. But here it was, standing before her like a beacon of hope. If the could time travel, there was a chance to bring Bucky back, to bring everyone back. She locked eyes with Steve, who mirrored her excitement, his brows furrowed in concentration.
