He opened his eyes to a sky filled with colors shooting everywhere from the ground. The cold air has fogged his breath as he sighed while holding a sparkler on his hand, and thought to himself,
'Ah.. New Year's Eve.'
He held on the handrail while feeling the heat from his sparkler intensifying each second, and that's how he knew that the light almost touched the tip of his finger. He threw it on the ground and stepped on it when he heard someone called his name.
"Min Jae, have a drink." He looked at Jisoo who was stretching his arm, offering him a glass of champagne. He looked at the sparkle of the bubbles inside the tall glass before taking it away from Jisoo's hand.
"Thanks."
"It's a cold night, isn't it?" Jisoo said.
"Sure is." He reluctantly responded.
"What are you thinking?"
"Nothing. Just looking at the sky."
"Are you still thinking about him?" Jisoo asked and it took Min Jae a moment before he could answer.
"The sky is beautiful tonight."
"Min Jae," Jisoo reluctantly called. "it's been almost a year since.."
"The funeral?" Min Jae added and looked at Jisoo's apologetic expression. "I'm sorry. It's just, I have a lot on my mind and this is the first day I'm not going to think about work."
"It's okay. You can always visit if you wanted to unwind. Yoora and I will always be here to accompany you."
"I'll think about it."
"Well, it's a beautiful night. After all that fireworks, it's surprising to see stars even here in Seoul."
"Yeah, the night sure is beautiful." Min Jae said and looked back at the sky, watching the few stars that barely lit the darkness and remembering how Baekhyun's beautiful eyes looked back at him.
