Chanyeol kept on stealing glances at Baekhyun as they walked the almost empty street outside the university. With only an umbrella to protect them from the snow falling heavily, their shoulders are lightly pressed on each other.
It has been a month since it started snowing, and it hasn't stopped yet despite being in the last week of March. Baekhyun and Chanyeol are on their way to a nearby convenient store to buy instant food for a midnight snack. Chanyeol's hand felt frozen and not because it is the end of winter, but because he kept on pressing his arm towards Baekhyun.
They arrived at the convenient store and Chanyeol thanked the heater inside for giving them warmth. He took a basket and Baekhyun followed him wherever aisle he went.
"Aren't you buying something?" Chanyeol asked.
"Uh.. no."
"Why did you tag along if you're not going to but anything?"
"I ahh.. left my wallet."
Chanyeol pushed back his laugh, looking at how Baekhyun awkwardly acted, masking the fact that he did not have any money with him.
"Come on, what do you want?" Chanyeol kept putting chips inside the basket as he walked the aisle
"Baekhyun-ah, do you want these?" He added.
"That doesn't taste good but if you want it then okay." Baekhyun said.
"Choose what you want. It's my treat."
"Really? You mean it?"
"Yeah. Grab anything you want and put it in the basket."
"You already said it, you can't take it back, okay?"
Chanyeol nodded and Baekhyun walked towards the end of the aisle where he took a basket of his own and started putting chips inside his own basket. Chanyeol felt taken aback that Baekhyun is filling up his basket faster than him. He looked inside Baekhyun's basket and took the can of strawberry milk and a carton of strawberry milk, both with the same brand.
"Ya, Baekhyun! This is just the same. Are you sure you can finish this all in one night?" Baekhyun bowed his head and frowned when Chanyeol scolded him.
"Okay, okay. We'll take them all. I'm sorry. No need for you to sulk."
Baekhyun raised his head and went back to taking more stuff from the aisle of chips before going to the counter. Chanyeol looked at the two baskets being checked out by the cashier, one has four items in it, and the other one is overloaded with snacks.
After everything is scanned, Chanyeol paid with cash and took two bags with him. Baekhyun took the umbrella they left at the door and opened it, holding it above their heads.
"Chanyeol-ah, I'm hungry."
"What do you want?"
Baekhyun took a bag of chips and carefully opened the wrapper as he held the umbrella with the same hand.
"There's not much stars again tonight, huh?" Chanyeol said.
"Better get used to it. The city is too bright, you wouldn't notice some of the stars that are actually there." Baekhyun said while chewing.
"That's too bad. I really like stars."
"Why?"
"Because you keep on looking at them. It makes me feel closer to you whenever we look at the same sky."
"That's lame." Baekhyun said.
"What? It's not!"
"Looking at the same thing doesn't get you closer to someone unless you actually go to someone. For me, someone's presence is invalid unless that person is actually there. Words are often dead when you try to feel it alone."
