Tomorrow With You (ChanBaek)

Chapter Fifty Three

His hands shivered as he fidgeted his fingers while looking outside the window. He could not stop thinking about him, the agony of waiting as Min Jae drove the car made it impossible for him to bear.

"Are we still far?" Chanyeol asked, could not hold his patience anymore.

"Just sit there." Min Jae said as he grasped the steering wheel harder.

"Where are we going? We've been driving for an hour now. Are we-"

"I said just sit there, you jerk and shut up!" Min Jae yelled out of anger and the car swerved making Chanyeol grab on to the handle on his right.

He looked outside again, annoyed and not meeting Min Jae's hard expression and not wanting to talk to him further which may lead them to a car accident. The sky is clear and the sun is almost setting. The sight of blood overpowering the sea blue sky followed by darkness is the only thing that kept him busy, but it was not enough to take his mind away from him.

Night came and they are still on the road. There are not much cars left and the roads kept getting narrow and narrow, it is almost less than a half wide compared to the freeway in Seoul. His agony is getting the best of him, he wanted to just stop and grab Baekhyun wherever he is. Both him and Min Jae did not utter a single word as the car made a sharp right turn, making Chanyeol's head hit the door.

It has been fifteen minutes since he last saw a person outside and about more than twenty five minutes since he last saw a car. The place they are driving at are made of just roads surrounded by empty spaces and trees. The only light they have are coming from the streetlights and the car's headlights. Chanyeol knew that they are not in Seoul anymore a few hours back but he did not expect them to drive all the way this far. Wherever he is hiding Baekhyun, he is hiding him from the world.

"We're almost there, so don't ask." Min Jae spat out.

"I'm not even talking to you."

"Good. 'Cause I don't want to hear your irritating voice."

Chanyeol felt annoyed but he knew better not to be mad at Min Jae because he is taking him to Baekhyun despite the utmost disgust he could feel coming from him. The car turned right where the headlights illuminated a house almost hidden to anyone.

"We're here." Min Jae said when he pulled over at the backyard and went out of the car. Chanyeol was still frozen to his seat and could not manage to take one step out and inside the house in front of him.

"Are you coming or not?" Min Jae asked, annoyed.

"Ah.. yes." He said before opening the door at the passenger seat and came out of the car.

The house is big but not as big as Min Jae's house in the city. It was located near where he could hear the waves crashing to the sea and the breeze made it hard for his white buttoned down shirt to keep him warm.

"Is your phone still turned off?" Min Jae asked.

"Yes."

"Good. Don't you ever open it while you're still here." He warned.

Min Jae walked towards the house and Chanyeol followed him. It is dark outside and the house only have a few lights turned on. When he walked in, the first thing he saw was the living room. He followed Min Jae where he went and walked past the kitchen where he saw empty cups of instant noodles are placed on the counter top. At the end of the hallway was the stairs where Min Jae went up and he followed him to a room where a door was slightly closed, and his heart skipped a beat before entering the room.

Min Jae walked inside and gestured for him to wait before coming in. The place was cold as if the heater was turned off. He felt worried that Baekhyun might be staying this long at a room where he could have shivered all day. The hallway they walked in is dark, the only light faintly illuminated was coming from the room where Min Jae went. He waited for minutes and was tormented by every second that went by with him still outside the room. He wanted to see Baekhyun that badly but his mind was telling him to go back to Seoul. He is torn between wanting to see him and wanting to go away, ashamed to ever face him after everything he had done. He had been resenting him for more than a year without knowing that he could have been suffering somewhere alone.
