Edward averted his eyes from mine as he looked around the restaurant. "Money, sex, bills, money, sex, weed, alcohol" said Edward before he looked back at me. "And then you, nothing. It's very frustrating" he said as he smirked. "Is there something wrong with me?" I questioned and he shook his head as he chuckled. "I tell you I can read minds and you ask if there's something wrong with you?" Edward laughed.
"When I try to read your mind, I see a flash of red and my head hurts like a headache" said Edward and I scrunched my eyebrows. After a few moments Edward gave a deep sigh as his eyebrows furrowed together. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I don't have the strength to stay away from you anymore" he replied as he looked at me.
"Then don't. I don't want you to" I replied. After half an hour we left heading back to Forks. "I'm pretty warm now" I said before reaching forward to turn off the heater, Edward doing the same. Our fingers touched and I watched as he retracted his hand. "You're freezing" I said as I looked at him. "I have bad blood circulation to my hands. Genetic disorder that I was born with" Edward replied.
I continued looking at his hands as they gripped the steering wheel and realised I had only ever felt one other hand that cold. My moms. My phone began to ring and I fished it out of my bag before putting it to my ear. "Hello?" I said. "Serena, it's mom. You need to come to the police station now! Somethings happened to your uncle" said my mom. "What's happened is he alright?!" I said panicked.
"I'm not sure. I'm on my way there now" she replied. "Ok. I'll be there soon" I said before hanging up. "Can you take me to the police station please?" I said as I turned to Edward and he nodded. After 20 more minutes we arrived. I saw an ambulance and Bella out the front with Christopher. "That's my fathers car, what's he doing here?" Edward stated before we both climbed out.
I saw my mom speaking with Dr Cullen out the front of the station. Carlisle what's going on?" said Edward as we approached the two. "Mom? Where's uncle Waylon?" I asked as I felt my eyes sting sigh tears. "Baby, your uncle was found in his boat" said mom. "I-Is he ok??" I said and my mom stepped forward taking my hands into her gloved ones.
"He didn't make it" she whispered and my eyes widened in shock. "No! No you're lying!" I cried. "I wish I was baby but I'm not. Dr Cullen just examined his body. Oh sweetie I'm so sorry" said my mom as she wrapped me in a hug. I sobbed uncontrollably into my moms shoulder as she held me. After a few moments I turned to Dr Cullen who was speaking to Edward lowly.
"What happened to him?" I asked as the tears continued to flow. "It was an animal attack" said Dr Cullen. "Was of the same one that got that security guard down in Mason?" Bella asked in shock. "Most likely" Dr Cullen replied. I covered my mouth as I turned to my mom and she hugged me once more. "Serena I'm so sorry" said Bella as she rubbed my back.
After my mom spoke with Chief Swan we left. I rested my head against the window as we drove, silent tears slipping from my face. My uncle was the closest thing I had to a father in this world and now he's gone. "I still can't believe he's gone" I croaked. "I can't either" said my mom as we drove in silence. We arrived home and climbed out of the car.
My mom and I walked inside the dark house. It felt strange being here amongst all his things knowing he's gone now. "I'm gonna go to bed" I said as I slipped off my coat. "Ok baby. We'll get through this together I promise. Have a good nights sleep" said my mom as she wrapped me in another tight hug which I reciprocated.
We pulled away and she kissed my forehead before I turned making my way upstairs to my room. I closed the door and changed into my pyjamas before falling onto my bed and crying myself to sleep.
