Edward arrived shortly and climbed out of the car before running to my side. He opened my door and I saw my mom and Carlos appear from out of the forrest. I ran into her open arms as she held me tight. "I'm so glad you're alright!" She said as she held me. Carlos wrapped his arms around the both of us before we all pulled away.
I walked over to Edward who held my hand as he lead inside with Bella and Christopher. As the six of us entered the house, Edward let out a hiss causing me to look up and see Laurent as Edward pulled me close to him. "Wait!" said Carlisle as he held up his hand. "He came to warn us about James" he continued.
I gripped Edward's arm in fear as I looked at Laurent. "This isn't my fight and I've grown tired of his games but he's got unparalleled senses, absolutely lethal. I've never seen anything like him in my 300 years. And the woman, Victoria, don't underestimate her" said Laurent before he abruptly left the house.
"James? I've met him before" said Carlos. "You have?" my mom asked. "Sí. About a century ago. He is a sadistic vampire. His tracking abilities are...ruthless. He is able to pick up your scent from a place you've been days prior and find you. However, he likes to make a game of his hunt. He thrives on making his prey extremely fearful of him. It's what drives him and makes his sick game for enjoyable and exciting. He tried to get me to join him due to my abilities but I turned him down not wanting to be involved in anything to do with the torture of a human being" said Carlos and my eyes widened.
"Follow me" said Carlisle before we followed him to the garage. "I fought our kind before, we're not easy to kill" said Jasper to Emmett as the Cullen's bustled around. "But not impossible. We'll tear him apart and burn the pieces" said Emmett, a slight excitement in his voice. "I don't relish in the thought of killing another creature. Even a sadistic one like James" said Carlisle as he looked through some cupboards.
"What if he kills one of us first?" said Rosalie as she sat on the counter. "Christopher and I are going to run Serena and Bella south. Can you lead the tracker away from here?" said Edward. "No! I will go with my daughter while you guys stay here and fend him off" said my mom as she grabbed my hand.
"That won't be possible Angelica. James has been in Forks long enough to pick up your scent and know you're a vampire. If he goes by our home, he'll know you're Serena's mother and that you will never leave her. He'll follow you" said Carlos.
"I'll go with the girls. Jasper and I will drive them south" said Alice as she walked over. Edward didn't say a word as he held me close to him. "No! I won't let you just take her away! I'm her mother-""Angelica please! The longer we argue, the more time we're wasting and the closer James will get to Serena. I trust Alice. I know she and Jasper will take care of your daughter" said Carlisle.
I turned to my mom as she looked at me, panicked. "Mom, they need you and you're tracking abilities to hunt down James and end this" I said. "I don't want to lose you Serena, you're all I have left!" My mom argued as she grabbed my hands. I wrapped her in a hug before Alice grabbed Bella and I's hands, pulling us over to Carlisle's car.
"Rosalie, Esme, could you put these on so the tracked will pick up Bella's scent?" said Christopher as he handed Rosalie a jacket. "Esme, wear this, it's Serena's" said Edward as he handed her my jacket. I slid in one side of the backseat as Bella slid in the other. "Why? What are they to me?" Rosalie said as she glared at Edward.
"Rosalie, Serena and Bella are with Edward and Christopher. They're part of this family now. We protect our family" said Carlisle in a fatherly tone. I watched as Rosalie begrudgingly grabbed the jacket from Carlisle's hands as she walked off. Edward close the trunk of the car before he walked over to my open window and I looked up at him with teary eyes.
"Edward, I...What if something happens? What if someone gets hurt o-or killed?!" I said as a tear fell. Edward reached forward and wiped my tear as he caressed my cheek. "Nothing's going to happen. There's nine of us and two of them. When everything's done, I'm going to come back and get you" said Edward and I nodded. "Ok" I said.
"Serena, you are my life now" said Edward as he stared at me. I quickly leaned forward and pressed my lips to his before we pulled away. Alice revved the engine before she sped out of the driveway and I watched as Edward stared at the car. I wound up the window before leaning my head against it, tears falling from my eyes silently.
