"Ok kiddos. Say goodbye to grandma and grandpa. We won't see them for a couple of days" I said as I looked at Masen and Colette before they ran over to Carlisle and Esme who embraced the both of them. "Carlos and I are heading to Spain to find his brother. He's great in combat if it has to come to that" said my mom and I nodded.
"Be careful" I said as I hugged her. "We will" she said as she pulled away and I turned to Carlos. "I'm looking forward to meeting your brother Carlos" I said as I hugged him. "I'm looking forward to seeing him too. It's been 50 years since I last saw Mauricio" said Carlos and I smiled. "Ahh I see it's been a reunion that's been long awaited" I replied and he nodded as he smiled back causing him to chuckle.
"Abbi! Papa! Are you coming to Alaska with us?" said Colette as she skipped over to my mom. "Not this time princesa. Papa Carlos and I have to make a trip to Spain to see his brother" said my mom as she picked Colette up. "You'll come back right?" said Masen. "Oh course we will hombrecito" said Carlos as he high-fived Masen.
"Alright. Lets get this show on the road" said Jacob as he entered the room. "Sam Uley's here" said Edward as he looked out the window. "He needs to speak with us" Edward continued as he turned around and looked at everyone. "Mom, can you stay up here with Colette and Masen?" I said as I turned to her and she nodded.
We all made our way downstairs to front patio where we saw Sam waiting for us with a piece of paper in his hand. "Sam, what can we do for you?" said Carlisle as he looked at him. "I have a message for you" said Sam before he handed Carlisle the piece of paper. "Alice asked me to give you that. She and Jasper crossed our lands to the ocean last night" Sam replied and I turned to Edward.
"Carlisle?" said Esme as she looked at her husband. "They've left us" said Carlisle as he looked up from the note. "Why?" said Rosalie, a look of hurt on her face. "She didn't say" said Carlisle as he turned to her. "Could I please see the note Carlisle?" I said before he handed me the note. I flipped it over and saw Alice's neat handwriting.
Gather as many witnesses as you can
before the snow sticks to the ground.
That's when they'll come.
I scrunched my eyebrows before sliding the note into my back pocket.
I looked in the rearview mirror to see Colette and Masen playing with Leah and Jacob. I gave a small smile before looking back out the window at the passing scenery. "I'm glad they have Leah and Jacob" I said quietly to Edward. "Yeah I'm still debating it" said Edward and I giggled as I reached across the console and held onto his hand.
"I mean the upside is that when the time comes for Colette and Masen to be old enough, we'll know that they'll never get their hearts broken" I said and Edward gave a nod. "Still don't like it though" Edward said and I laughed. After a few more minutes, Edward turned off of the main road and down a driveway.
We made it to a wooden mansion where I saw the Denali's coming out the front. Edward climbed out of the car and approached them. "Edward, is everything alright? Why didn't you tell us you were coming?" Tanya asked. "Is it Irina? Have you heard from her?" Kate asked. "Not directly" Edward said as they approached the family.
"Why is your bride waiting in the car?" Eleazar asked. "And why have you brought wolves with you? I can smell them from here" Kate said in disgust. "Our family's in danger and we need your help" Edward stated. "What's happened?" Carmen asked, concern lacing her voice."It's hard to explain but I need you to be open minded. Can you do that?" Edward asked.
"Of course" Tanya replied. Edward turned and gave me a small nod. I looked into the backseat at Colette and Masen who were looking confused. "Alright guys, we're going to meet some new people ok?" I said and they nodded. "They won't hurt us will they mommy?" Colette asked, a small ounce of fear in her voice.
"No" I said reassuring her as I grabbed her hand and she nodded before the five of us climbed out of the car. As the family laid eyes on the Masen and Colette, they gasped as they withdrew in fear. "The Volturi will come for all of us!" Kate said. "You get those things out of here!" Tanya spat. "They're not what they look like" said Edward as he tried to reassure them.
"This is a crime!" Tanya exclaimed before attacking Edward. He threw her off when Kate grabbed his arm beginning to electrocute him. I felt anger surge through me before I sprinted to Edward's side. I kicked Tanya away as she went to charge at me before turning to Kate. She grabbed my arm beginning to electrocute me. I let out a groan before shoving her, a huge red orb coming from my hand as I did so causing her to scream in pain as she flew threw the air and landed on the ground.
She and Tanya stood up and went to charge again causing me to stand in front of Edward, a hiss escaping my lips as I did so. "You touch my husband again and I swear to God I will tear you limb from limb!" I spat angrily as I glared at the two. "They have blood in their veins. You can feel their warmth" Edward said as he pulled me back slightly.
"I can feel it" said Carmen as she looked at Eleazar. "I'm her biological father. Serena's her mother" Edward said as he looked at them. "Impossible" Kate said in disbelief as she shook her head. "It's true. They were born whilst I was still human" I said as I looked at them. "I've never heard of such a thing" said Eleazar, slight shock in his voice.
"They can show you if you let them" I said before turning to Leah and Jacob. Jacob picked up Colette as she clung to him as Leah held onto Masen's hand. "Tanya, Kate, you owe us this much. We're all under a death sentence because your sister didn't let us explain" Edward pleaded. As Jacob stood beside me, I took Colette from him and approached Tanya who flinched.
"Don't be afraid. She's going to project her thoughts onto you. Just look into her eyes" I said. Tanya looked from me to Colette and her eyes clouded over for a moment before a small gasp escaped her lips. "It's true" Tanya said as she turned to Kate, Carmen and Eleazar. "They're not immortal" Tanya said.
I felt relieved in that moment. But I knew the rest of our friends would have the same fears as the Denali's. The fear of the unknown.
