I shivered slightly as I pulled my cardigan tighter around my body whilst I laid on the couch. "You cold?" said Edward as he looked at me and I nodded. "Here Serena" said Esme as she gently placed a throw rug over me. "Thank you" I said and she smiled before returning to her seat. I groaned as the familiar feeling of nausea came and sat up.

I let out a gag and Edward immediately grabbed the bucket before holding it in front of me as my mom rubbed my back. I gave a whimper as my stomach cramped from the convulsions before I let out a sigh and laid back down. "We need to find a way to get some food into her system" said Esme as I cradled my stomach.

"If only I could see the fetus-"the baby" said Rosalie as she cut Alice off. "Maybe I could figure out what it wants" Alice continued. "I think you might be right" said Edward as he turned to Jacob who was leaning against the wall behind him. "Jacob just had an idea" Edward continued and I looked over at Jacob. "It wasn't an idea. It was a snide comment" said Jacob.

"What were you thinking?" Carlisle asked. "That it's probably just looking for someone to sink its teeth into" said Jacob and it clicked in my mind. How could we have not thought of this before?! "The baby's thirsty" I said as I looked at Edward. "I know the feeling" said Emmett from the other side of the couch. "If it's craving it's not gonna want animal blood" said Edward as he looked at me.

"I have some O negative laid aside for Serena" said Carlisle before he disappeared from the room as he walked down the hallway. "Walk with me" said Alice as she stood up and grabbed Jasper's hands. The two left the room along with Bella and Christopher. I watched as Rosalie nodded at Emmett before he too left the room.

"Ve mi amor. No te pongas incómodo(Go my love. Don't make yourself uncomfortable)" my mom said to Carlos. He sighed as he stood up from the couch before walking over and kissing her cheek. He kissed my head and I smiled briefly before he exited the room. I winced as I sat up and watched as Carlisle returned to the kitchen pouring blood from a pouch into a glass.

"Wait, wait, wait! You're going to make her drink that?!" said Jacob as he stepped forward. "It's the fastest way to test the theory" said Carlisle. "Only if you're comfortable with it" said Edward as he grabbed my hands in his. "I'll try anything" I said. "Just hold on" said Edward before he stood up from his seat and disappeared for a moment before retiring with a styrofoam cup which he poured the blood into.

He walked over to me and held the cup out in front of me. "This might make it a little easier to take" he said gently and I took the cup from him. I took a deep breath and released it before brining the straw to my lips. I took a sip and felt the blood enter my mouth. The blood was cool and metallic. I swallowed my small mouthful without gagging and my eyes widened.

It satisfied a thirst I didn't realise I had. "It tastes good" I said as I looked up at everyone. A sigh of relief filled the room and I took a bigger gulp of the liquid before immediately swallowing it. The feeling was indescribable. It was like taking that first gulp of water after running a marathon. Relieving and satisfying. Carlisle sat beside me and took my wrist in his hand feeling my pulse.

"Your pulse is already getting stronger" he said as he smiled in astonishment. "Oh my God!" said my mom as she smiled and gently held my shoulders, rubbing them. "It's working" said Esme as she looked at me in delight. I gasped as I placed my hand on my stomach as the baby moved. "The baby likes it" I said as I looked at Edward and he smiled as he grabbed my hand.

Within minutes I had finished the cup and felt the best I had felt in a long time. I felt energised and healthy. I felt a new sense of hope. Maybe I'd make it and deliver my baby...
