I felt the panic surge through my body as I ran through the ballet studio. "No! No! Help! HELP!" I screamed, my voice echoing off of the walls. I tried the door leading to an exit and pulled at the locked handles. I heard a menacing laugh and froze in my spot as I felt the chills roll up my spine. I hesitantly turned to see the mop of fiery red hair standing in the corner of the room; her red eyes glowing. Victoria disappeared from the corner of the room and I looked around for her. "You can't run from us anymore" I heard her whisper in my ear and I turned to see the room filled with more red eyed people...new borns. "NOOOO!" I screamed before Victoria sunk her teeth into my neck.
I jumped awake before looking around my room in fear. "Serena" I heard Edward say as I sat up and turned to look at him. "Edward, t-this army it's all her. Victoria" I said and Edward scrunched his eyebrows. "Alice would have seen if she wanted to make an army" Edward said. "Alice sees when someone's made a decision. Victoria is probably leaving the decision making up to someone else so she isn't on the radar. The person who's making the decisions is probably the intruder" I said.
I rolled out of bed and got changed into some day clothes as Edward waited outside my room. "You and Bella will need to be out of Forks before the army comes" said Edward as we walked downstairs. "What? What do you mean?" I asked in confusion. "What's going on?" said my mom as she entered the kitchen where Edward and I were.
"You know the newborn army?" I asked and she nodded. "I think Victoria's behind it. She was James' mate, the guy who came after Bella and I in the ballet studio. I think she's the one who's organised this army but is leaving the important decision making up to someone else" I replied and my mom turned to Edward. "Do you think that's a possibility?" she said to him.
"Yeah it could be. If Victoria is involved, I want you as far away from this battle as possible" said Edward. "I'm not going to sit there like some sort of sitting duck whilst you guys put your life on the line. There must be something I can do to help. I can't lose you guys" I said as I looked between my mom and Edward.
"Serena, you won't lose us. With the wolves in this it's an easy win" said Edward. "Ok which one is it? So dangerous that Bella and I have to hide or so easy that you're gonna be sidelined?" I questioned. "Dangerous for you. Easy for us" said Edward. "Edward, if Serena needs to hide then you should be with her. Looking at past experiences, you two don't do too well apart. She'll be worrying and so will you and it will distract you when you're needed most" said my mom.
"You're right" said Edward as he looked at my mom. "All of this wouldn't be so dangerous if you changed me already" I muttered before walking to the bathroom.
Later that day, Edward and I walked into a field where I saw Christopher, Bella and Jasper. "You two not fighting? What did you pull a muscle or something?" said Jacob as approached us with a girl who looked around 16, a sour look on her face. "They're doing it for us ok?" said Bella. "Whatever. Just tell us the plan" Jacob replied.
"This field will give us an advantage in the battle. We need to lure the newborns with the girls scent. But it needs to end here" Jasper explained. "Edward, Serena, Chris and I are going to a campsite. Even if Chris and Edward carry us, they'll still pick up on our scents" said Bella from beside Edward. "Your stench however, is revolting" Christopher spat.
"Dude, you really don't wanna go comparing stinks" Jacob said and I rolled my eyes. "What he means is that yours and Leah's scent will mask ours if you carry us" Bella said. "Done" Jacob said and Leah scowled. "I cannot believe Sam made me do this and not Seth" she spat. "He was too young and you know that" Jacob replied and Leah rolled her eyes.
"This is not a good idea" Edward complained from beside me and I gently squeezed his hand. "Edward, they won't want to get anywhere near their...odour" Jasper said as he looked to Jacob. "Ok let's just try it" said Bella before walking over to Jacob. I walked over to Leah and awkwardly scratched my head. "Um hi I'm Serena" I said as I held out my hand.
Without saying a word she turned and bent down. I hopped onto her back and she held onto my legs. "Eau de wolf coming up" Jacob said as he held Bella. "Run mutt" Christopher snapped before Jacob and Leah disappeared into the woods going different ways. After a few seconds of running, Leah slowed to a walk as she carried me.
"Your last name is Clearwater right?" I said. "Yes" Leah replied bluntly. "Bella's told me about you. I'm sorry about your father. My mom is the nurse who tended to him at the hospital" I said. "I don't need your pity. It was a leech that caused his death. I don't know how you can stand to be around them" Leah spat and I swallowed hard.
"Edward isn't like that. He would never harm a human" I replied causing her to scoff. "So pathetic how you can defend such a monster" said Leah as she walked up a hill. "Werewolves are monsters too" I argued. "We don't feast off of innocent human beings" she shot back. "No but you can do just as much damage as a vampire though" I replied.
"Whatever. I bet you're planning on becoming one of them too" she replied. "Yeah. After my graduation" I replied. "Why would you want to become one of them willingly?!" Leah snapped. "Because. My mom is one of them and so is the man I love. Wouldn't you do anything to be with the one you love forever?" I asked and she remained silent.
Edward's P.O.V
"All I picked up was wolf stench. No Bella or Serena" said Jasper as he walked out of the forest and I nodded. "You're sure you couldn't pick up even a trace of their scent?" said Chris. "No. Not even a hint of their perfumes" said Jasper. "This will work Chris. You don't need to worry" said Jasper and Chris gave a stiff nod.
"It's not the scent I'm worried about. It's that mutt" Chris spat.
