I stood in the woods as I stared at the big tree in front of me. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the energy in my chest. I felt it radiate to my palms before opening my eyes and looking at the tree. I slowly lifted my hands and moved the energy back and forth as I watched it grow bigger and bigger. Once it was the size of a basketball I shot it at the tree causing it to explode into tiny pieces that fell around me.
"Wow. You're getting amazing at controlling it" said Teresa as she stood beside me. "You think?" I said as I turned to her and she smiled as she nodded. "Si, si! You're learning to concentrate your aggression into your ability which is allowing you more control over it" she said and I smiled. "With more practise and control, you'll be able to do whatever you want with it" Teresa continued.
"Do you think I'll be useful in the fight if there is one?" I asked and she nodded. "Indeed" she replied. After a few more moments, we headed back to the Cullen's house. As I entered the living room, I saw Colette sitting beside Carmen as they read a story. Masen was watching Ben in awe as he created shapes and animals with his ability.
I felt arms wrap around my waist from behind and I smiled as Edward rested his head on my shoulder. "Hi" I said as I turned to him. "Hey you" he replied as I turned in his arms. "How was training?" He asked. "Good. Teresa says I have good control" I replied and he smiled. "I knew you'd be amazing from that moment in Volterra" Edward responded.
I smiled and leaned forward pressing my lips to his for a moment before pulling away. I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around Edward's torso and he instinctively wrapped his around me. "I love you" I said as looked up at him. "I love you too" he replied before pecking my lips once more.
Later that night, I stood in the woods watching Colette and Masen play with Maggie, the thought of the upcoming battle looming my thoughts. "Hey" I heard someone say and turned to see Bella walking over. "Hey" I said as I gave her a small smile. "You alright?" She asked and I sighed. "I can't help thinking this may be the last time I ever see them" I replied as I shoved my hands in my pockets.
"Don't torture yourself with those thoughts Serena" she said as she looked at me. "I can't help it. They're my world and without them I'm nothing" I said. "Colette and Masen are very lucky to have a doting mom like you. I wish my mom was like that when I was growing up" said Bella and I turned to her. "Thank you for this Bella. Standing with Edward and I even though you didn't have to" I said.
"Of course I would stand with you. Serena, you're my best friend. I would never walk away from you" said Bella. I smiled and leaned over wrapping her in a hug as she hugged me back. "Thank you for everything Bells. I don't know what I would have done without you" I said as we pulled away. After a few more moments Bella walked back over to Christopher.
I turned and walked a little ways into the woods to a small clearing where there was a log. I sat down and brought my hands to my face as a million thoughts rushed through my head. "God Charlotte. I'm so lost right now. I thought that I would finally get my happy ending with the man that I love but every time, something has been thrown our way. First James, then the whole family moving away for six months, then Laurent and Victoria, then I became pregnant and practically died giving birth to my beautiful children and now this. I thought that once I was turned, life would finally get easier. My whole life it's been one road block after another and I don't want the same fate for my kids. I don't want them to grow up waiting for the next thing to go wrong and preparing for the worst. I want them to live as normal of a life as they can - for the time that we have them" I said as I looked up at the starry night sky.
