I stared out the window of the living room as I gently rubbed my stomach. "I can't wait for you to get here so you can see all the beautiful trees and listen to all the birdies chirping" I said to my stomach as I looked down at it. "Feel the sun on your skin for the first time. I can't wait to see what you look like. Will you have my dark brown hair or your dads reddish brown hair? Will you have my green-hazel eyes or your dads blue ones from when he was human. Or will you have red eyes? Will you have fair skin or tanish skin?" I said causing myself to giggle.
"I hope I get to see you baby. See what you look like. Hear your cry, your laughter" I said as I felt a tear escape my eyes. I heard footsteps enter the room and quickly wiped my tear before turning to see Edward walking into the room holding a styrofoam cup. "Hey" I said as he placed the cup on the table before squatting in front of me.
"I'm sorry I've been so angry" he said softly as he looked up at me. "It's ok. I would be angry too" I said as I grabbed his hand, stroking his knuckles with my thumb. "I've left you alone in this" he continued, guilt in his voice. "For better and for worse" I said as I recited our vowels and Edward chuckled. "Well, they say the first year is the hardest" he replied and I giggled.
"You have three rings in marriage. You have the engagement ring, wedding ring and the suffering" I joked causing him to laugh. His laughter stopped as a look of confusion crossed his face. "What was that?" he asked as he looked around. "What was what?" I asked as I looked at him. "I thought I just head..." Edward trailed as he placed his hand on my stomach.
"Just say something else" he said. "I like your shirt?" I said, confused. A look of shock and surprise crossed Edwards face before he looked up at me. "The baby likes your voice" he said and my eyes widened. "Y-You can hear the baby?!" I said as I placed my hand over his. "In mind. The baby likes my voice as well" said Edward and I gasped as a smile came to my face.
"What do you hear?" I said as I looked at him. "It's so strange. I thought the baby was like me but it's not it's like you. Good and pure. It's happy" said Edward as he looked up at me. "Oh my God" I cried in happiness. "I love you so much my baby. I can't wait to meet you and hold you in my arms!" I said as I looked down at my stomach. "What do you hear now?" I said as I looked at Edward and he smiled.
"The baby loves you Serena" he replied and I covered my mouth as tears of happiness fell from my eyes. Edward leaned forward and kissed my stomach gently before he sat on the couch beside me, his arms wrapped around me, one of his hands on my stomach. "What do you think it is?" he said. "I don't know. I can't decide. One minute I think it's a boy and the next, I think its a girl" I said as I looked at him and he chuckled.
"What do you think it is?" I said. "A girl. A little baby girl who looks just like her mother with her beautiful big brown eyes and brown curly hair" Edward said to my stomach and I laughed. "Or a handsome baby boy with reddish brown hair like his father and brown eyes like his mom" I said and Edward smiled. "Whatever you are, boy or girl, we'll love you no matter what" Edward said to my stomach before he kissed it once more.
