As a few weeks passed, I noticed Bella becoming some what normal again. She began looking a lot less exhausted and the life slowly began returning to her eyes. She was speaking to people more, smiling a little more and over all beginning to heal from Christophers leaving. My mom and I's relationship has changed for the better since he left.
We've become so close. Every night I will sit in her room or she will sit in mine and we will just talk and talk and talk about anything and everything. Memories from childhood, funny jokes or comments, memories of Charlotte etc. It feels good. "I did see something in the woods" said Angela bringing me out of my thoughts as I tuned in to the conversation.
"Totally, baby I believe you" said Eric from beside her as I continued eating my salad. "No he doesn't. He's just trying to get lucky" said Jess and I chuckled . "No. Ok. It was jet black and huge. On all fours it was still taller than a person. A bear maybe?""or an alien. You're lucky you didn't get prober" Mike chimed in and I shook my head.
"You know you're not the only one. Um my dads been getting reports at the station" said Bella as she appeared behind me. "Like five hikers have been killed by some bear but they can't find the bear" she continued as she sat beside me. "Hmm" said Angela as she turned to Eric who let out a nervous laugh. "Last time you clowns doubt my girlfriend" said Eric and I laughed.
"What does your mom think Serena? Isn't she a diction or nurse at the hospital?" asked Jess. "Yeah she's a nurse. Pretty much the same we Bella's dad. They think it's some crazed animal but they can't tell if it's a bear or like a mountain lion. They're leaning more towards a bear though" I replied. "Told ya" said Angela and I smirked.
Eric looked away from me before he and Jess began talking about it a homework assignment. "Guys" said Angela as she rolled her eyes. "Speaking of which, you're looking better. How have you been feeling?" She asked before she sipped her drink. "Uh yeah much better. My mom and I are spending heaps of time together and it helps take my mind off of things" I replied and she nodded as she smiled.
"That's really good Serena. I'm really happy for you. Break ups are never easy, it's a form of grieving in a way and it takes time to fully heal. You'll get there though" said Angela and I smiled. "Thanks Ange" I replied. "Do you guys want to go see Face Punch?" said Bella as she turned to all of us. "Face Punch? Yeah! Mike, hey, we were supposed to watch that remember the trailers like boom boom punch faces" said Eric as he motioned with his fists and Mike nodded.
I stopped myself from laughing at the look of disappointment on his face. "I'm down" I said as I pushed my empty tray forward
The next night, I pulled up to the cinema parking my car. I grabbed my jacket and slipped it on before getting out of my car. As I approached the cinema entrance, I saw Mike and another guy who I recognised as Bella's friend Jacob from the Rez. "Hey Mike" I said as I appeared beside him. "Serena! Hi" said Mike, his face instantly brightening as he looked at me.
"You uh you look great" said Mike as he looked down at my outfit. I wasn't wearing anything fancy. Just a baby pink sweatshirt, blue jeans and my converse. "Umm thanks. You're Jacob right? From the Rez?" I said as I turned to Jacob and he nodded as he gave me a smile. "Serena?" He said and I nodded. "Yeah. It's nice to see you again" I replied.
"You too" he said back. "Where is everyone else?" I said as I looked around for the others. "Uh I don't actually know. I haven't heard anything" said Mike as he scratched the back of his head. "So Face Punch huh? You like action movies?" said Jacob, starting up conversation with Mike and I. "Not really" said Mike before he continued looking around awkwardly.
"I don't mind them. I do prefer horror or comedy but still" I replied with a shrug and Jacob nodded. "I heard it sucks. Bad" said Jacob and I chuckled. "Not going to lie, when I saw the trailer, I sort of predicted that. That's the down fall with action movies is they're really predictable. Fast cars, guns, knives, over grown men getting into continuous and unnessacary fights. At least with horror or comedy, you have an idea of what is coming but you never truly know what to expect" I replied and Jacob smirked.
"You know, are you even old enough to see this movie? I mean you know, without adult supervision" said Mike as he looked up at Jacob who towered over him. "Right, yeah, she's buying my ticket for me""Buying it. Ok" said Mike before Bella walked over. "Serena, hey. so glad you made it" said Bella, a hint of relief in her voice.
If I were her, I'd be glad to. Being stuck here with Jacob and Mike wouldn't be fun. "Jessica bailed and Angela uh got the stomach flu so Eric's taking care of her. It's just us four" said Bella. "Great!" said Jacob, a smirk on his face as Mike sucked in a breath. "Great" Mike said unenthusiastically. We headed into the cinema and went to our theatre.
We found our seats and sat down. I was next to Mike who was next to Bella and Jacob was sat on the other side of Bella. As the movie progressed, I became more and more bored. I leaned on my hand and turned to see a couple beside me holding hands and leaning on one another. I sighed and felt my mind drift off. That's one thing Edward and I had in common.
We weren't movie people. We enjoyed other things like music and poetry. If he were here right now, he'd be whispering to me about how unrealistic all the gore and fighting was and it would make me laugh. My thoughts were disrupted as Mike sprung from his seat and darted out of the theatre. I turned to Bella before she, Jacob and I grabbed our things and left.
I watched as Mike ran into the mens room. "What a marshmallow" said Jacob and I giggled. "You should hold out for someone with a stronger stomach" said Jacob. I walked ahead of Jacob and Bella before leaning against a wall by the stairs. I ran a hand through my hair as I looked outside. "Bella...I know what he did to you. And Bella, I would never ever do that" I heard Jacob say to Bella.
I shifted uncomfortably in my spot feeling like I shouldn't be there listening to their conversation. "I won't ever hurt you. I promise. I won't let you down. You can count on me" Jacob continued. "Well" said Mike as he came out of the bathroom letting out a sigh. "I need to go home" he said as he looked at us. Jacob turned and looked at Mike with a look of irritation.
"I'm...I was feeling sick before the movie ok?" Mike said to Jacob as he looked at him and Jacob gave a little scoff. "What is your problem?" said Mike. "Right now, you're my problem. Feeling sick? Maybe you need to go to the hospital. Want me to put you in a hospital?!" Jacob spat as he advanced on Mike. "Whoah guys! Calm down Jesus!" I said as I walked to the both of them.
"Jake, Jake, Jake the movies over! What are you doing?!" said Bella as she pulled on his arm. "You're really hot. You feel like you have a fever. Are you ok?" she said as she looked down at his hand. "I don't know what's happening last" said Jacob as he let out deep breaths. "I gotta go" he said before abruptly leaving. I turned to Mike who still looked a little shaken up.
"You ok?" I asked him and he nodded as he cleared his throat. "Y-Yeah. Dude is weird" he said.
