Angelica's P.O.V
Serena let out soft snores as she laid in my lap still fast asleep. I looked out the window as the sky had a light blue tinge slowly growing signalling morning was near. Serena began to stir and I looked down at her as her face contorted. "No Edward...I love you. Please don't go" she mumbled. I sighed as I continued stroking through her hair and she gave a soft sigh.
The door gently opened and Carlos quietly walked in. "Is she alright?" he whispered and I nodded. "I didn't want to move incase I woke her. First decent nights sleep she's had in ages" I replied and he nodded as he sat on the end of her bed. "I have half a mind to track the Cullens and give Edward a piece of my mind. I still don't understand. He was so in love with her or so I thought. They were always together and he has the audacity to just up and leave her like that? If I ever see him again, I will not hesitate to hurt him just as badly as he hurt my baby girl" I said as I looked down at Serena.
"I know mi amore. But do not let your temporary emotions make a permanent decision. I too wouldn't mind giving Edward what he deserves but that would only do harm to Serena because she is still in love with him" said Carlos and I sighed. "Why are you always right?" I replied and he smirked. "Because I am a man" he replied and I scoffed.
"Puh-lease" I said and he chuckled. "You know, Charlotte would be perfect right now. Serena needs her twin sister" I said as I looked at the photo of my two girls. "Indeed" Carlos replied. "When they were growing up, whenever one of them was upset the other would know how to comfort them. It was amazing. They were always there for each other no matter what. What I could give to go back in time and take Charlotte's place" I said.
Carlos placed his hand on my leg as he gave it a gentle squeeze. "I know how you're feeling. After I lost my Lucia, I felt so lost. She was all I had and in an instant she was gone. I wish it could've been me who burned in the house that night not her" said Carlos as he looked down. The night before he was turned 167 years go, his lost his only child, his five year old daughter Lucia, in a house fire. Two years before that his wife had died.
He didn't talk about Lucia too much because it hurt him still after all of this time. That was one thing that brought the two of us together. We had suffered the same pain. "But now I have you and Serena" said Carlos and I smiled. "As cruel as fate was, it brought the two of us together" I replied and Carlos smile as he nodded.
Serena's P.O.V
I awoke the next morning and found my mom still sitting beside me. "Morning" she said as she gave me a smile. "You're still here" I said as I stretched and she nodded. "Of course. I said I would be" she replied and I smiled as I sat up. "I'm getting you out of the house today. So get up, get dressed for a hike and we're leaving" she said as she stood up.
