1 year later...
"In other news, today marks the one year anniversary of the disappearance of Angelica Fernandez. On this night a year ago, Angelica was last seen entering the Moon Bar here in Port Angeles with her boyfriend Rick Stanley. Detectives say the two left the bar during a heated argument that carried on in the street. The next day, after not hearing from her mother, Angelica's teenage daughter phoned police who began to look for the missing mother. Upon their arrival to the Moon Bar, police also searched the surrounding area where they made the horrifying discovery of Rick Stanley's murdered body lying here in this ally. Beside him was a pool of blood which was confirmed to be Angelica Fernandez by investigators. After a whole year, police are yet to find Angelica-" I switched off the news and grabbed my backpack.
"Cya uncle Waylon" I called. "Cya kid. Enjoy your first day at school" he called back from the basement. I smiled and exited my uncles house before walking to my moms old car. I climbed in starting it up, before driving off. After my moms disappearance, I moved from Port Angeles into Forks to live with my dads brother, my uncle Waylon.
My dad died when my sister and I were 1 but every now and then we would come and visit my uncle. After Charlotte died, those visits became distant memories. I rested my elbow against the window as I drove, letting out a small drawn out sigh. I pulled into the busy parking lot of my new school and turned off the car before looking around me.
People stared at my car causing me to shift in discomfort. "Time to bite the bullet" I muttered to myself as I grabbed my bag from the passenger seat and slung it over my shoulder before climbing out of my car. I shut the door, locking it, before putting my headphones in to try and ease my nerves. I walked into the school following the sign that pointed to the front office.
I entered the office and pulled my headphones out before approaching the sweet looking receptionist. "Hi there dear, what can I do for you?" She asked with a kind smile which I returned. "Hi, my name's Serena Fernandez-Forge. I'm a new student here" I replied. She gave a light "Ahh" before nodding her head as she typed into the computer.
"Well Serena, welcome to Forks High school. Here is your schedule, a map of the school and your locker number along with your locker combination. Now, if you have any issues, don't be afraid to come here and I'll be happy to help you ok?" the kind receptionist said and I smiled as I nodded. "Thank you" I said before walking away.
I exited the office and walked down the hall looking at all the locker numbers before finally finding mine. I put in the combination and pulled the metal door open. I began unpacking my books putting them in before grabbing the photo of my mom, Charlotte and I. I smiled and stuck it to the inside of my door. "Wish me luck today" I whispered as I touched the photo.
It fell from the door and I fumbled as I tried to pick it up with all of my books in my hands. "Shoot!" I cursed irritably. "Want some help?" A voice asked and I looked up to see a brunette girl with glasses and a silver camera strapped around her neck. She reached down and picked up my photo.
