I pulled in behind Bella and Jacob as I turned off my car. I looked ahead and saw Bella's door open before it slammed shut. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion as her car started. I quickly grabbed my phone and called her as the anxiety built in my chest. "Bella what is going on?" I said into the phone as she answered. "I-I don't know Jake said he can smell a vampire" Bella replied and my eyes widened. I looked in my rear view mirror almost felt my stomach drop as I saw Carlisle's car.
"They're back!" I exclaimed before opening my door. I tripped over the edge of my car as I fell onto the damp grass. I immediately stood up, wiping myself off as I saw Bella clamber out of her truck. "Bella, Serena, it's a trick stop! You gotta come with me!"said Jacob as he grabbed both of our arms. "They won't hurt us Jacob!" I argued as I tried to pry his tight grip. "Look, if a Cullen is back here, this is their territory. Treaty says we can only defend on our own lands. I can't protect you guys here" said Jacob.
"Ok, it's ok. You don't have to" said Bella desperately. "You're about to cross a line" said Jacob and Bella looked at him. "Then don't draw one, please" Bella pleaded. I shook Jacobs grip off before following Bella up to her front door as the breath got hitched in my throat. She opened the door and we walked in, the house pitch black. The only sound I heard was my heart racing in my chest.
Bella turned on the light and I let out a started scream as I saw a figure illuminate out of the darkness. "A-Alice?!" Bella stammered. "Alice!" I cried as I threw myself at her. "Oh my God!" said Bella in shock. "Serena! Bella!" Alice exclaimed. "Alice I'm sorry! I can't believe you're here! You're really here!" I said as tears of happiness filled my eyes.
"I-Is Christopher b-" "Would you like to explain to me how you're both alive?!" Alice exclaimed as she looked at Bella and I. "W-What?" Bella stammered. "I saw a vision of you, both of you! You jumped off a cliff and Serena, you were in a car accident!" said Alice. "Bella, why in the hell would you try and kill your self?! I mean what about Charlie?!" snapped Alice.
"I didn't try to kill myself!" Bella argued. "I-I was cliff jumping, recreationally. It was f-fun" she continued. Alice sighed as she shook her head. "Go and make yourself a warm drink or something then we can talk" said Alice and she turned to Bella. "Ok. Want some tea Serena?" Bella asked as she turned to me and I shook my head.
"No it's alright. I'm good" I replied and she nodded before walking to the kitchen as Alice and I headed to the living room. We walked to the couch where I sat across from her. "I can't believe you're really here" I said as I looked at Alice and she gave a small smile. "I've been wanting to come back but it would just make things complicated" Alice replied and I nodded.
"...How is he?" I asked, feeling the twinge of pain in my chest at the thought of Edward. "I'm not really sure. He moved out a couple weeks back. He calls in every now and then but it's not for long" Alice replied. I bit my bottom lip as I averted my eyes. "He was really depressed after we left. He didn't hunt for weeks and just sat in his room staring out the window most days holding the necklace he gave you" said Alice.
I felt the tears build in my eyes as I looked up at her once more. "I don't understand why he did it. W-Why he just left like that" I said as the tears fell from my eyes. "Oh Serena come here" said Alice before she wrapped me in a tight hug, something I've missed. "He thinks he's doing what's best for you" said Alice.
We pulled away as we heard Bella enter the room and she sat beside me, a cup of tea in her hands. "I have never met anyone more prone to life threatening idiocy" said Alice as she looked at Bella. "Umm does...Did you...did you tell him?""No" said Alice answering Bella. "He left shortly after Edward did and he only calls in once every few months too. He said he wants to be alone" said Alice.
