The turbulence of the plane caused me to jump in my seat as I looked out the window. "Relax Serena. Why don't you try and rest? You look exhausted" said Edward from beside me as he gently grabbed my hand. "No. I'm fine" I replied shaking my head. "How long has it been since you've slept?" Edward asked as I looked at him. "I don't know. 2 days?" I replied and he frowned.
"How long has this been happening?" He pressed and I shrugged. "Since you left Forks. I haven't had a good nights sleep and ages" I said and Edward sighed. "Please rest Serena. I don't want you to get sick" said Edward and I shook my head. "No Edward. I said I'm fine" I replied. "Why are you fighting your sleep?" He asked. "Because...I don't want to wake up and realise it was all just a dream. I don't want to wake up and you not be there" I said as I looked at him, my eye glistening with tears.
Edward leaned forward pressing his lips to my forehead for a tender moment before he pulled away. "I promise I will be right here when you wake up" he said as he stroked my cheek. I sighed before nodding. I grabbed my airline pillow and rested it against Edward's shoulder as I grabbed his hand in both of mine holding onto it tightly.
Edward's P.O.V
Within seconds of Serena resting her head, soft snores escaped her lips and I smiled. I kissed the top of her head softly before looking out the window. "What are you going to do?" said Alice from beside me and I turned looking at her, reading her mind and seeing an immortal version of Serena. "I still have time" I replied and Alice sighed.
"Edward, you heard what the Volturi said. They will be coming to check that she isn't human soon. You don't have that much time" she replied. "We can go away somewhere" I said back. "Edward, you know I've already seen it. It's going to happen regardless of what you try to do to stop it" Alice said and I shook my head. "It's doesn't have to be that way. Serena could still be human and besides, your visions are subjective and could change" I said as I looked down at Serena.
"You are impossible. Firstly, when I have a vision, 99% of the time, what I see is what happens and secondly, her mom has said if Serena wishes to be a vampire, she will change her" said Alice and I sighed. "Like I said, I've got time to convince her otherwise" I replied before she turned away from me and continued reading her magazine.
We soon arrived back in Forks and I gently shook Serena as people began taking their things from the cabins. "Serena, we're home" I whispered and watched as her beautiful eyes fluttered open. She looked around before her eyes landed on me. "You're still here" she whispered and I gave a small smile as I nodded. "I told you" I replied.
We left the plane, my arm snaked around Serena's waist to keep her from falling due to exhaustion. We exited the airport and made our way to the Taxi bay. Bella and Christopher got into one taxi as Alice, Serena and I got into another. I told the driver to head to Serena's house and looked down at her to see she had fallen asleep once more.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder bringing her into my more and she stirred slightly before relaxing. We soon arrived and I paid the driver before climbing out and gently picking up Serena bridal style. Alice followed me to the front door where she knocked. The door swing open and I saw the face of Angelica. Relief filled her eyes as they landed on Serena in my arms before they fell on me.
A look I could only describe as anger and rage filled her eyes as she stepped aside. "Thank you" I whispered before entering the house and making my way up the stairs to Serena's room. I gently pushed the door open and walked over to her bed. Alice pulled her duvet back where I laid her down gently. I removed her shoes before pulling her blanket over her and she gave a sigh as she rolled over in her bed.
"I'll meet you at home" said Alice before she walked over to the window and leapt out of it. The scent of Angelica came to the room and I turned to see her at the doorway. Outside now she thought before she disappeared. I looked at Serena once more before leaving her room and heading downstairs to the front yard where I saw Angelica waiting on the porch.
I shut the door behind me as I stood opposite her. "Miss Fernandez I-" I didn't get a chance to finish before her hand connected to my face sending me flying onto the concrete driveway. I stood up and walked onto the grass in front of her as she walked down the front steps. "I hope you realise what you've done. The damage that you've caused!" She snapped as she glared at me.
"I understand Miss Fernandez. And no words will ever be able to express how sorry I am. I thought I was doing what best for Serena. All I wanted was for her to be protected and safe" I said as I shook my head. "You hurt my baby girl. You caused her pain. She wasn't eating, wasn't sleeping, I would hear her screams of terror due to her nightmares caused by you! My daughter is a strong girl who has suffered so much but I have never seen her so broken and shattered. She loved you Edward. She trusted you and you betrayed that trust. I had trust in you! I believed that you loved me daughter and would do nothing other then protect her from harm and yet you're the one that caused her the most harm! I lost one daughter 3 years ago. And because of you, I nearly lost the only one I have left" Angelica spat.
"I will never forgive myself for what I've done. The moment I left Forks I knew I had made a mistake but it was too late to come back. Now that I've got her back, I'm never letting her go again ever" I said as I looked at Angelica. "You not only have to gain her trust back, but you will also have to gain mine. Now if you ever so much as make my daughter shed a tear of heart break again, I will not hesitate in killing you slowly and painfully so you understand?" said Angelica and I nodded. She walked into the house and closed the door behind her.
I walked to the side of the house and leapt up to Serena's window and climbed in. I walked over to her bed and kicked off my shoes before sitting beside her. She immediately moved over to me and rested her head into my chest as I wrapped my arms around her. "Mmm......Edward.......I love you...." she murmured in her sleep and I smiled. "I love you more" I whispered.
