Evelyn was headed for her class with a bitter taste in her mouth. All the boys around her noticed her new behavior, but no one dared to go ask her. At first she was intimidating in looks and dating, now she was actually intimidating.

Asher quickly caught up to the girl, stopping to catch his breath for a second. "Eve please"

Eve stopped walking.

"What?" She didn't bother to look at him while talking.

"I'm sorry. I'm still a little upset about what Matt did"

"We all are, Asher. That doesn't excuse wanting him dead" The blonde finally turned to face him. And boy, did her face show a side Asher never saw before.

He swallowed back a lump in his throat. "I never said I wanted him dead. just..hurt-"

"What's the difference? Harm would befall him either way"

"And just because I'm upset over what he did to me, that doesn't mean I stopped...loving him" Evelyn blushed a bit at the last words.

Asher looked down slightly. "Eve I'm sorry. Really I am"

"I heard it, but do you really mean it?"

"Yes, I do"

"Would you have followed me if I didn't say our outing is off?"

"Probably"

"What am I supposed to make of that? Do you have any idea what I think you're doing?" Evelyn held her arm in insecurity.

"I don't know, Eve"

"I think you only want to apologize so that I go with you"

"What?? No! I don't like you being mad at me, Eve! Or seeing you upset in any way!" Asher exclaimed at once.

"But you don't care about Matt, do you?"

"Not.. as much... He hurt you Eve, I'm not just gonna forgive him right away for that"

"You see what you're doing? You keep going back to that. You only care as long as I'm involved" The girl pointed out.

"... So..? Am I not allowed to care about you?"

"You should, but you have other friends...Did ever care about Jordi? Or Mike and Mara? Do you not care about them like you don't care about Matt?"

"I care about them a lot!"

"But with Matt, you don't. Just because I like him, and you hated him when the possibility that he liked me as well popped up"

"Matt is a different story, Eve.." Asher tried to reason with her.

"Different how?"

"it just.. is" He let out, unable to find a tangible answer.

Evelyn started tearing up by this point in the argument. Anyone who passed just stared in awe.

"What kind of person would treat their friends differently based on relationships? Would you have been happy if both Mike and Matt liked Mara or Jordi and it teared them apart?!"

Evelyn yelled out at the boy in front of her. Barely leaving him any time to respond, she continued.

"Matt came and warned us, despite knowing that we were upset with him. He's honest and caring!"

Eve finally turned away.

"I'm sorry Asher, but there's only one Matthew Anderson that I love and it's not you"

She left the boy and went on her way.

Asher just stared in complete shock. Something new the boy hadn't felt crept up: Pain. He watched her go. He didn't follow, not wanting to upset her more, now knowing he was part of the reason she was upset. He made his way quickly to a nearby bathroom.

Asher walked into a stall, setting his bag down and leaning against the wall. The boy hadn't cried in a long time, but he was close to it. His mind was twisting in circles.

I ruined it. I ruined everything. I'm such an idiot. I'm so stupid to think I ever had a chance with her. Matt doesn't deserve her. He did this to her!! and yet she still ffff- fricking likes him!!!

As Asher stood there and thought, unaware of any passing time, he slowly came to a realization. That maybe, for once, he was the one who was wrong.

I should support them tho... That's what friends are for..

After a little more thinking, Asher stood back up and picked up his bag, walking out of the bathroom.
