"So it started yesterday here when I was sitting and waiting for Evan..." Matt proceeded to tell her the whole thing.

"..and because I'm an actual idiot, I forgot the note now everyone thinks I like Miller. Goddammit.." They were in the halls by the time he finished, still receiving glares from those who passed them.

Mara just silently listened, giving a few nods as he spoke. "I'm so sorry"

He sighed. "I'm sorry as well, N...Mara. I probably dragged you into this mess with me"

She shrugged a little. "It's whatever" In reality, she didn't like the attention, but she wouldn't say so.

"Okay, I think I'm gonna let this thing blow over. It's probably the best idea"

"And another thing..." He smiled slyly.

"Yeah?"

"I'm gonna try to talk to Mike, slap some sense into him so you two can start"

"Ok. Good luck with that" It took a moment for the last part to register, her face went red.

"I don't like him like that!"

He giggled a bit. "You're easy to read, Mara. Even an airhead like Mike picked up on it"

"I do not like him!" She was silently trying to calm her growing blush.

"Whatever you say Mara, I'll see you later"

"Say, why don't we exchange phone numbers, in case we need them?"

"Good idea" She pulled out her phone.

He pulled out his as well.

She gave him her number.

He pocketed his phone.

"Okay, later, little girl. Be safe"

"Later" She waved and walked away.

Matt let out a breath and started walking on his own as well, thinking about the things that happened today.

First off, his best friend, whom he loves and holds very dear is now a jerk and a piece of crap because of those damn kids...Said damn kids caused a rumor to spread that he likes a girl, who coincidentally happened to like him apparently?

It was so weird to think that a girl likes him. On the bright side, at least Mara has become his friend...Maybe she'll be enough support.

Now that he thinks about Evan...he's not gonna tell him about any of this, it would make him think it's his fault, and Matt won't want that...

Matthew was so deep in thought, he didn't see the person in front so he bumped into them.

"Oh sorry I wasn't looking where..."

"Matt!"

He recognized that voice. Oh crap...

"I was just talking with my dad and he said he would like to meet you" Evelyn gave a sweet smile.

"Uh, excuse me?"

He hadn't realized that Jordi was standing nearby as well, glaring at him rather...coldly.

He ignored her and turned back to Evelyn.

"Yes, he said he would like to meet you. That's what I said..."

Now Matt didn't know how to respond. He knew of Mr Miller, rich man, fierce and strict. Supposedly one of the most influential people in the city, and pissing him off was not a good idea usually...

Of course, he probably can't harm Matt directly but he can do worse...

The poor boy started sweating a bit before he gave a nod and a brief "sure", brightening the blonde's face even further.

"Great! He'll see you tomorrow at lunch, is that okay with you?"

He nodded again.

"Perfect, see you then" She leaned in and kissed his cheek before leaving.

Matthew was stunned, like he actually froze in place and his cheek warmed up...probably more than Evelyn herself..

He shook it off, it just came as a surprise. He's not used to this kind of thing...yet.

Jordi looked over at Matt and growled out a response.

"If you hurt her, I swear you won't see the light of day ever again"

Matt let out an inward sigh.

"I am aware of the consequences, Fisher" He merely glanced her way.

"Good" She growled and started walking away.

He shook his head as he watched her walk away.

"Weirdo" And with that, he left too.
