After class, Mike stepped out of the classroom first. "Yo, guys, how about we get together at my house later? It'd be pretty exciting" He smiled.
Matt followed out and shrugged. "I don't know, dude. I can barely handle being in your room"
Mara stepped out and shrugged. Asher stepped out of the classroom next. "I think it would be pretty exciting too"
"Yes! Totally exciting, bro! I'm definitely inviting you over more!" Mike announced. Evelyn smiled a little at his enthusiasm. "Thank you, Mike" She told him.
"You're welcome, Eve" Mike beamed.
Matt stood to the side, looking glumly at the scene. Events from earlier ran through his mind.
That's the first time he ever ignored my jokes...
"I'll go on ahead, guys..." Matt stated and started moving towards the cafeteria.
"Yeah, thanks" Mara whispered and smiled a little at Mike while Asher rose an eyebrow at Matt.
Evelyn watched Matt go with a frown, but she didn't bring it up.
"Are you sure your parents wouldn't mind, Mike?" Evelyn questioned.
"Nope. They'd be more than happy to, actually. You'll just have to put up with my brothers" Mike rolled his eyes.
"Then maybe we can go over to Asher's instead..." The blonde suggested.
"Oh yeah, that sounds good too" Asher agreed.
"Thanks, Asher"
"You're welcome, Eve" Asher smiled back at Eve.
"Yeah, thanks!" Mike held onto Mara's hand and started walking.
Mara followed. Asher and Jordi followed not to long after. Rose was silent in the back.
When the gang arrived to the canteen, they went to sit down...but Matt was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's he now?" Evelyn muttered to herself as she realized this.
"...No clue" Mara answered.
"Where did you find him last time, Mara? When he went out?" Evelyn inquired.
"By the running track, I think" Mara answered back.
Rose sighed, got up and started to walk off to the running track, deciding there was something she needed to do.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Rose? Where are you going?" She called after the girl.
"I have something I gotta do, Evelyn" Rose looked back at the group with a determined look on her face.
The answer still left Eve in bewilderment such that she just sat watching Rose, who carried on after making sure they had no more questions, go with a confused look. Eve turned to see the others' reaction to this.
Mike was being his usual self, or at least trying to. Trouble could still be read on his face if one looked close enough. Maybe that's why he was hunched over with his arms folded over his face.
Mara watched Rose go with a confused look as well, and Asher was patting Mike on the shoulder in an attempt to comfort him, while looking in the direction that Rose walked in with a confused look on his face.
Evelyn eventually tried to relax and just wait it out.
Maybe they'll both come back here...
