Much, much later, when the day was ending, they would have to put up with it once more.
The six were once again greeted with the three familiar faces. This time a female voice piped up. "Where you losers think you're going?" Rose asked.
"Home where there's less schoolwork and no scum like you" Mike fired back at her. Matt and Evelyn sighed. They were so tired of them by this point.
She rolled her eyes. "Awe, look at these losers thinking they're sooo cool"
"There's a big difference between normal people and actual losers who think they're so cool, you know" Matt replied.
"Yeah, and you fall onto the latter"
"Ah yes. I forgot that your idiocy makes you do mistakes"
Rose rolled her eyes. Nate stepped in front of her. "Don't speak to her like that"
"Awww, look at those two lovebirds!" Mike cooed mockingly.
Nate rolled his eyes, ready to punch him.
"Oh? What do you want?" Mike stepped up in a challenging way, but Matt immediately stepped in front of him.
"No Mike, not after you went the whole day without trouble" Matt reasoned. Mike sighed and started to walk away in the opposite direction, with Matt and Evelyn following.
Mara quickly followed, her headphones in again. Dexter growled a bit.
"Asher, Jordi. Come on" Evelyn turned back to them and said.
Asher did the "I'm watching you" hand gesture towards Nate, Dexter and Rose and followed. Jordi followed as well.
When they were a distance away, Matt spoke. "Jeez, what a day"
"Yeah, what was up with them today?" Mike wondered. Evelyn didn't speak because she obviously had no idea.
Asher just shrugged. "I'm not sure, man"
"I swear, our lives would be better if they were six feet under" Matt huffed, only to be immediately smacked by Eve. "Matt, don't say things like that! It's....scary"
"Ow, okay...Sorry Eve"
Mara just stayed silent, walking a little behind everyone. Asher laughed. "Oh c'mon, Eve. He's not wrong"
"But still...they're kids like us, even if they're mean" Evelyn reasoned.
Mike sighed. "She's right, unfortunately"
Asher sighed as well. "Fine fine"
Jordi muttered. "I agree with Matt"
"Jordi!" Evelyn scolded. It was followed by Asher and Mike exclaiming "See?!" simultaneously.
To lighten the mood, Matt spoke. "How come you smacked me but not Asher? That doesn't seem fair"
It seemingly worked, because Mike was laughing at Matt now.
Asher laughed a bit as well. "Don't you even dare, Eve"
Evelyn shrugged. "I don't know. I feel responsible for you"
Matt blushed at that unexpected response. "Sorry, what?"
Mike just continued laughing at him. "Matt, you got totally schooled, bro!"
Asher laughed along with Mike. Jordi started walking a bit faster.
Matt huffed at how the situation turned out, so he decided to switch the subject. "I think we're supposed to split up here"
This sparked an idea for Mike. "We should totally stay over at one of our houses sometime"
Asher smiled. "Oh yeah, that'd be dope"
Matt raised a brow. Who says dope anymore?
