"Wait what? Ugh, I can't believe he went back to them..." Matt facepalmed upon hearing Mara's response.

"Yeah" Mara let out a sigh.

Evelyn looked unusually sad as well because she knew well how those popular kids were like.

"Did they say anything that I should know?" Matt inquired.

Mara shrugged. "Not really..."

"I'm sure he's alright, Matthew" Evelyn tried to reassure him. Before anyone added anything, they could hear footsteps come closer to them. It was Mike, looking glum.

Matt immediately let go of Eve's hand and walked over to him.

"Mike, dude. What the hell were you doing?"

But Mike didn't respond...

Mara did the same and walked over. "Everything okay, Mike?"

Evelyn walked over as well, but she was unable to provide comfort, much to her chagrin.

Mike finally looked up and gave them a sad smile. "It's okay. It's all over. You two were right, I shouldn't have trusted them. They only wanted to hurt me and Mara"

Matt looked annoyed and angry. "Those little...." Then he sighed. "They didn't hurt you, did they?"

Mike shook his head.

"Good..." After an awkward minute, Matthew pulled his best friend into a hug, which Mike reciprocated.

Mara stared down at the floor, speechless.

Evelyn would instead offer comfort to her with a side hug and a small smile. "You're safe now" The blonde said.

The brunette smiled a bit. "Th-thanks" She couldn't help but slightly tense at the touch.

Being oblivious to Mara's plight, Eve just looked back at Mike and Matt who pulled away by now.

"Okay Matt, don't treat me like I'm a child now" Mike joked.

"That is the price of having a best friend, Mike" Matt joked back, smiling. The fact that his own words were echoed back to him was funny enough to make Mike laugh.

"You two are so cute" The blonde said.

Matt chuckled at the comment. "Oh no Mike, you're gonna have to choose between me and Mara" Matt joked.

Mike giggled at bit, looking like he's already feeling better. "Oh no! Such a dilemma!" The brown haired boy exclaimed, playing along.

Evelyn started giggling heartily as well.

Mara laughed a bit as well, a small blush creeping onto her face.

Evelyn pulled away from Mara and moved closer to Matt.

"I'm sorry Mike, but he's with me" She said, causing Matthew to blush.

Mike started laughing louder. "Oh my god, you two are finally together! Let's go!" Mike cheered.

"SHHHH, keep it down!" Matt shushed him, but Mike continued laughing.

"When will you and Mara become official, Mike?" Evelyn piped up, and Matt let out a sigh of relief and his smirk from earlier returned.

Mike stopped laughing and basically broke. Mara turned red, looking at anything but the three who stood in front of her.

"I'm going to class. Join me when you come back to earth" Matt started walking towards class, Evelyn following close behind.

"Oh yeah, I want you to meet some people!" Evelyn said excitedly.

Matt raised a brow but didn't say anything. He looked back at Mike and Mara. "You two coming?"

"Oh right, sorry" Mara smiled and followed.

"I was just...uh..." Mike started to come up with an excuse but he gave up and followed the three instead.

"Great, let's go!" Evelyn started walking after she said that.
