Prologue

Y/n's pov
Even though anger ran trough me at first when I found out she was alive, I had hope. Hope of being happy. Happiness huh?  I shouldn't have had. The first thing I learned about being independent was to never have hope. Hope drives you towards motivation which leads you to your goal, but once that goal is far out of reach, the hope you had gets shattered. Thus, there's nothing more painful than having no hope. A hopeless life equals to a meaningless one, one I'd been leading since my family got taken away from me, since every normal thing got taken away from me. Damn it, why?

I fantasised too much about her and I, about being able to talk about our day, about books, about life. But it all got taken away from me in the blink of a second. Ironic isn't it? Then, what's the point of being alive? No, wait. I have to hold on for her last wish, and for the promise I made to Ash, my dearest friend.

I have two choices right now. I can either walk away from Ash and live the life I longed for, or I can fuck it all and fulfil my promise for him. A promise which will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Chapter 1

As much as you hated waking up everyday, you had no choice. After cursing your alarm and yourself,  you contemplated if you wanted to take a shower or not, which you didn't end up taking  because you couldn't be bothered enough. You put a random f/c oversized shirt on you found laying around in your room, pairing it with blue baggy jeans because you couldn't be bothered to look "nice" for society. You put your hair in a messy bun and put your black docs on. You quickly grabbed your bag and sighed while looking in the mirror one last time noticing your eye bags growing darker.

With a tired and cold look on your face,  you grabbed your keys and left your appartment making sure you locked the door. You took the subway to get to Megusto, a coffee shop where you've been working for a few months now. You didn't hate the idea of working honestly, just the thought of dealing with people and having human interaction cringes you, and also the fact people find you to be rude because of your cold and uninterested look. You couldn't help it, you just didn't care. But you tried your best to put a fake smile on, god how you hated doing that.

Your shift finally ended after 8 hours of constant fake smiling, making coffee for highschool students that passed by and zoning out every 5 minutes. You put your apron and name tag in your locker and quickly made your way out to the public library. The public library was like your save haven, people were usually doing their own shit and didn't care to bother others. Students who were plagarising work from books, old people reading classic books and other random people trying to get their work done before they hit their deadline. The silence in the library was perfect for you to forget about the cruel world you live in, perfect to be at peace even if it's for a few hours. By now you've noticed who the regulars are, the staff and every inch of the library.  You might aswell call the library your home at this point.

After 10 minutes of searching for a decent book, you chose to read 'A perfect day for banana fish' by J.D. Salinger, you also some how found some manga's which was the highlight of your whole month. Your eyes lit up by the thought of reading them, but your face quickly turned to a cold, uninterested look you always kept.  You went to the back of the library where you always sat, the perfect place where you were unnoticeable. But you stopped when you saw a blonde sitting there. It wasn't the first time you saw him there, he stopped by the library quiet frequently if you were honest.

You sighed and sat on the other side of the  long table, oppisite to where the blonde guy sat. You took out your golden coloured reading glasses which framed your face shape perfectly and started reading the book you chose. After what felt like only 10 minutes, one of the staff member came towards you to let you and that blonde boy know that the library is closing. You glanced at your phone screen and realised it was already 8pm, you looked out the window and saw that it was starting to get dark and that you should get to your appartment as soon as possible since you didn't want to encounter creeps at night.

You nodded towards the staff member to let her know you're leaving as the blonde guy put his book away and started walking towards the exit. You grabbed your belongings and made sure you didn't forget anything since you're a really forgetful person. Just when you were about to walk away you realised that the blond guy left his reading glasses behind. That idiot. You were thinking about leaving his glasses behind but quickly remembered the pain of losing reading glasses so you grabbed his glasses and spotted the blond boy at the entrance of the library. You were a little pissed you had to play tag with the blonde stranger since he walked quiet fast for a normal civilian.

Just as he was about to leave the library you screamed "Hey you!!". Panting, you went over towards him making sure you didn't trip down the stairs as he looked at you with a confused face.

You took out his glasses and showed it to him as you were trying to catch up with your breath. "Why are you walking so fast? Are you running in a marathon or something." You said as you  looked at his shining green eyes and his gold locks falling over his face. You'd be lying to your self if you said you didn't admire his godly features.

On the other hand he chuckled as you were still trying to catch up with your breath. "Thank you." he said softly while looking at the breathless state you're in, grabbing his glasses from your hand.

You felt like asking his name, but you didn't, you didn't have friends nor family and the thought of having one was foreign to you. "It's fine." you said in a monotone tone and quickly left before he could say anything further.
