TW: Mentions of SA!
————"We were waiting for you, boss."
"Y/n." Alex came towards me, holding me by my arms. "We're glad you're back."
"Hey, Alex." I held onto his hands. "I'm glad you're okay."
"Where are Willie and Yang?" Lao interrupted the little reunion, crossing his arms as he stared dagger at me.
"They were caught. Them and about ten others." I explained, narrowing my eyes at him. "I know where they went, the National Mental Health Institute."
"If you knew, why didn't you help them?!" He screamed at me, angered by the fact his friends were caught as well.
"I was caught, too." I sighed, closing my eyes. "Ash, Sing, and Cain saved my life."
"You left our guys to die and saved her instead?" Lao turned to face Sing, only anger written on his face.
"I didn't have a choice!" Sing defended himself, taken aback by Lao's sudden outburst.
"There were more than twenty of them. All pros, too. We'd just get caught if we tried anything." Cain interjected, defending Sing and me.
"Since when are you y/n's shadow, Cain?" Lao bit back at his attempt to defend me.
"What did you say you little shit." One of Cain's men stepped forward, angry at Lao's disrespect towards Cain.
"Don't act like you aren't. Being bossed around by a white boy's chic like that, disgusting." Lao tsk-ed, spitting on the ground upon mentioning Ash's name.
"Say that again. You're asking for it now!" Cain's men bit, gritting their teeth at Lao.
"Hey, this isn't the time for this! Stop it, Lao." Jessica tried calming the situation down realizing how escalated everything was becoming.
"Let me go Sing, I can't stand it anymore. What the hell were you doing anyway, saving y/n instead of your own guys? You call yourself a boss?!"
"Hey, tone it down! Take back everything you said!"
"We'll beat the shit out of you Lao if you don't shut up!"
"Shut up!" Shorter screamed after keeping silent for a long time since the whole argument began. I flinched from his sudden outburst, never used to his anger in the months I knew him. He was barely ever angry or screamed, so it was a foreign concept. He stared angrily at Lao, his pupils narrowing at him, only anger visible on his face.
"Nothing better to do?" Ash asked dimly, the whole room going silent after Shorter's and Ash's remark. "Have it your way. But don't get in my way anymore."
"He's right. If you're not serious about this, get out." Shorter gritted his teeth at Lao, clenching his fists from anger that Lao caused by insulting Ash and me.
I rolled my eyes, already used to the useless and childish arguments that took place in gangs. Putting a hand on Shorter's shoulder to calm him down, I stepped forward, gaining everyone's reaction.
"Lao." I cleared my throat, crossing my arms staring boredly at him. "I did not have any choice other than to survive myself. I wasn't playing Monopoly during the time I was caught by Foxx for all the clarification. If it was in my power, I would've saved them earlier. Because guess what, Max, Kong, and Bones were caught too, along with Willie and Yang." I walked towards the door, hovering my hand above the doorknob.
"It's useless to gawk and fight like toddlers over matters we know that couldn't be done differently. So, stop it. If you want to get your friends back, keep your cool and don't start fights with everyone here. It's stupid." I raised my voice stating my last comment as I opened the door. "I need fresh air." I said before finally leaving the room filled with heavy tension between everyone.
