"I should get going y/n, thanks for letting me shower and you did a really good job with stitching my wounds up."
"You're welcome and no." You said taking 2 pills of Ibuprofen with water.
"No?"
---------------"No, Ash first of all its almost 11 pm so you shouldn't be out at this time. On top of that i'm pretty sure that those people are still after you. Second of all, you're hurt right now, you lost too much blood and I just stitched your damn wounds up so I don't want them to reopen again." Third, your presence is somehow really comforting and I don't want to be alone.
"Fourth, you-"
"Wait you skipped point 3." The blonde said, laughing at the way you got all defensive as you to prove your points.
"If you haven't noticed, I'm really stubborn so you won't win against me." You said as you stuffed your mouth with a slice of pizza.
The blonde looked at you devouring the pizza and they way you melted by the thought of food. You were like an open book to him at that moment. There was so much to find out about you, so much to know about you.
"Stop staring, it's rude." You said breaking his train of thoughts. He rolled his eyes and took a sip from the coffee you made him.
"Holy shit that taste good." He said after slurping down more of the coffee."I know, working at the damn coffee shop does have some benefits, I guess."
"You work at a coffee shop?"
"Hmm, the one two streets away from the library."
"Ohh that makes sense, that's why you always brought coffee to the library."
"Yup, also here's your gun, I thought you'd want it back." You said as you handed him his gun.
"I'm sorry y/n."
"Why?"
"You got caught up in my shit."
"Hmm, it wasn't pleasent but it isn't my first time being in the middle of a situation like that either."
The blonde looked at you with all his attention. You hesitated telling him more but still did it. The reason why, you didn't know. But it felt right. You didn't have anyone the past years to share your problems with, and it felt good, really good that there was someone listening to you with their full attention.
You sighed and just as you were about to say something, the blonde interrupted you.
"Y/n, you don't have to."
"I want to Ash, listen to me, please."
"I'm here ok? If you feel uncomfortable or anything, just tell me." You nodded and took a deep breath in, mentally preparing yourself for the things you were about to explain.
"I used to live in Europe before I came here, if you haven't noticed my accent. Both my parents died due to an unknown reason when I was 14. I had no one and their death really startled me. Shortly after their death, I, I-" You tried saying what you wanted to say but you couldn't complete your sentence, you looked down staring at the cup of coffee, holding it tightly.
"Y/n you don't have t-"
"Shortly after their death, some people took advantage of me."
No, no, no. Not her too. She didn't deserve this. Who did this. How did her parents die. No, no no she deserved anything but this. The blonde thought clenching his fist.
"After that I got involved with wrong people and i had to start protecting myself. I already mastered Taekwondo when I was younger since I practiced it as a hobby. And I learned to use a gun because people made me do it, well I didn't really need to learn because apparently I was a natural at it. I then disappeared and did underground jobs. After a year I recontacted a close friend of my mother to let him know I was alive and he offered to move me to the United States. He said that that's what my mom would want for me. At first I laughed at his dumb idea but I soon realised I was tired of constantly hiding and living in the dark. I made money of illegal jobs so I could move to New York and support myself here. I was almost 16 when I got here and I started a new life. I lived with him for a while till I completed high school. After a year and a half I moved out and I rented this apartment and tried living a normal life" You said looking down as your face covered your hair.
"I know how it feels, y/n. I know how it feels to be used for your body. I was forced into prostitution from a young age and I understand how you got involved with bad people because something similar also happened to me." Ash said unclenching his fist.
"None of it was your fault, nothing. You were an innocent girl who got caught up in this fucked up world. You didn't deserve any of this y/n. It's my fault, I shouldn't have acquainted myself with you especially knowing of the position I'm in, knowing I have enemies who could potentially target you and it happened. Fuck, it's my fault. I'm so sorry" The blonde said blaming himself.
"No you moron, I'm glad I met you, I really am" You said as you slurped the coffee.
"What, why. All I did was bring you in danger and I reopened your wounds from your past."
"You're the first friend I've had in 4 years and you have no clue how good it feels Ash, you're also the first person who didn't judge me and you understand me. You also got good taste in books." You said smiling at him.
Only god knows how that smile of yours effected the blonde. He wanted to see you smile more. He wanted it to last longer. Your long locks falling over your face and you smiling with your eyes closed. If only he could stop time right then and there and stay there forever.
"Thank you so much Ash, thank you for being you, thank you for listening, thank you for being a good person." You said.
Ash froze, not knowing how to react. "Thank you for being a good person." He kept repeating that in his head not being able to digest what you said. No one ever thanked him, and if they did, it was only for using his body. He wasn't used to this, especially a girl who he put in danger.
"I- but you're in danger now and Arthur saw you so you're a target and-" Ash said not knowing what to say next. What you said shocked him and he didn't have a single clue how to react on that.
You flicked his forehead. "We should go sleep for now, it's getting really late. We'll talk tomorrow. I'll sleep on the couch, you take my bed."
"No." He said
"Yes." You said
"No"
"Yes"
"No"
"Yes"
"No"
"Yes" You said giving him a death glare.
"Yes." He said terrified by the way you looked at him.
You burst out laughing clutching your stomach and tears welled up in the corner of your eyes from laughing. "That face PLEASEE" You managed to say in between breaths. You fell on to your couch still laughing.
Meanwhile the blonde started blushing slightly but the way your laugh was contagious wasn't sitting right with him. He looked at you in awe as you tried breathing. He thanked the dim lit room for hiding his red cheeks and thanked the whole universe for seeing your laugh.
