Ash brought me to his hideout as we cautiously walked around Chinatown, making sure not to attract any attention from potential enemies. Ash carried my duffel bag even though I insisted not to. And I made sure that no one was tailing us, with the blond of course.  After around 25 minutes of walking around in comfortable silence, we finally arrived at his hideout and everyone was relieved for some reason when they saw me. Bones ran up to me and gave me the tightest hug I ever felt, but loosened his grip on me when Ash gave him death glares, it was funny honestly.

"We were so worried." Said Alex when he finally saw me. I scratched the back of my neck and gave him an apologetic look.

"I'm so sorry. I won't do this again." I said looking down.

"It's okay, what important is that you're here." Said Bones with a cheeky grin.

"And that we're not dead." Muttered Kong quietly. But not quiet enough when the blond heard what he said.

"You have 3 seconds before I-" Ash said before Kong and Bones ran away.

"They ran away." I said laughing as I held my hand on my chest.

"They're a bunch of monkeys anyway." Said Ash rolling his eyes as I kept laughing.

"Alex, secure the perimeters and report to me what you've found out first thing in the morning." Ordered Ash as he entered the bedroom.

"Yes boss." Said Alex before he left. I waved him off and greeted Eiji with a smile as I entered the bedroom.

Eiji spent his time by reading manga's I brought from my hideout since I knew he'd want them, and Ash and me watched the news about the gangs involved in New York. Of course, Ash was the star of the news as they made him out to be a 'bad' and 'dangerous' person which made my blood boil.

"Bullshit." I remarked grabbing the remote and turning the tv off. Ash sighed and leaned back on the sofa.

"I'm used to it." Said Ash, looking at the black screen of the tv.

"But you shouldn't be. Paparazzi and news channel love bending their words and over exaggerating on topics which aren't that trivial. These damned assholes don't have anything better to do. All they care about is getting more views and money for their own sake." I said as I dug my nails in my palm from the slight anger I built in myself.

Ash chuckled and looked at me, his blond locks falling over his eyes and his jade eyes looking at my (e/c) ones. "Don't work yourself up, they're not wrong." He said, although I could sense hurt behind his words.

"They are." I said confidently which to Ash raised his eyebrow. "You're not emotionless nor ruthless. In fact, you're the most caring person I've met and.. And they don't even understand that you got involved in gangs because you needed to, because you needed to protect yourself from Golzine and the Corsican Mafia. After I got involved with Golzine and met him, it makes much more sense to me and I have more perspective on how and why you are the way you are." I said as I let a deep breath out.

The blonde didn't say anything for a while after my little speech which made me slightly nervous. He didn't move from his position as he stared at me, speechless. "Thank you." Is all he said after few minutes of silence passed.

"For what?" I asked.

"For understanding." He said, smiling slightly.

"I- yeah. It's fine." I said a little confused. It was as if it was the first time someone understood him for the real person he actually is, which left me slightly confused. The world sees him as a heartless, emotionless gang leader, but to me, he's the kindest person I've ever met since our first encounter in the library. Are Eiji  and me the only few people who see him as an actual person?
