22) The perfect facade

You and your mother got transported via Golzine's private jet to some sort of lab. As you entered the lab, you saw other scientists, equipments, computer monitors, a black chair in the middle of the lab which was facing your opposite direction, and Abraham Dawson.

"Ohh Layla, you're back. I see you finally reunited with your daughter" Said Abraham Dawson as he stared deeply at you, trying to remember where he saw you before.

"I've seen you before, you shot Griffin" You blurted out as your mother walked right besides you. She gave you a 'shut up and be quiet' side glance in order for you to not make a drama.

"It wasn't my fault" Said Abraham gritting his teeth as he held a syringe in his hand.

"Try telling that to Ash, the little brother of Griffin, the guy you killed. He'll destroy you, for sure" You heard Shorter's voice from the Black leather chair. You ran towards the chair and crouched in front of Shorter, letting out a shaky breath you didn't even know you were holding in.

"Shorter, are you and Eiji okay? You asked as you cupped his cheek with your hand. You could see the tension leave his face the moment he saw you.

"Y/n, they didn't do anything to you did they?" He asked. "Who's this lady? I thought your mother died" Shorter whispered the last question only loud enough for you to hear. Meanwhile Abraham kept saying that Ash wouldn't ever hurt him, in fear of course. But you couldn't care less about what he was saying, he was just a maniac scientist and wasn't experienced with combats and gangs, so the thought of going against a gang leader made him shit his pants. You rolled your eyes and stared at your mother, silently letting her know she needs to distract Abraham so you could talk with Shorter.

You chuckled and grabbed Shorter's strapped up hand. "Shorter, listen and do what i'm about to say. In order for my plan to work, you need to act as believable as possible alright?" You said whispering, making sure Abraham wouldn't notice you talking to Shorter as he discussed something with Layla.

Shorter nodded confusedly but listened further to you. "Yes, she's my mother an apparently she's alive. She's going to ingest an LSD-drug which will have a hallucinating affect on you like Banana Fish. The difference is that the effects of that drug version only lasts up to a few hours, as for Banana Fish, the effects lasts until you start inflicting self harm and.. kill your self. They're planning on injecting you with Banana Fish, but my mother will stop them last minute and inject you with LSD. They're going to try and subconsciously create a fear in your mind using Eiji, so I want you to pretend to be extremely scared of Eiji after you get injected. You whispered, trying to say as much as you can before your mother runs out of time.

Shorter looked at you even more confused, worry and stress taking his face over. You noticed that and held tighter on to Shorter's hand. "I know, it's too much to take in. But if i ever need you to trust me, it's now more than ever" You said in a soft voice. He looked at you and smiled, letting you know he does trust you.

"Always" He whispered back, but the worry was still evident in his voice. You smiled back and cupped his cheek. "Don't worry, i'll be here trough out the whole thing. I won't let them use you. Pretend like you're scared and try to resist them to make it as believable as possible" You said as Golzine walked in the lab.

"Is everything ready?" Asked Golzine to Layla and Abraham as he took a seat in the lab, Arthur besides him following him like a puppy.

"Yes, it's going to go perfectly this time" Said Abraham as he took his syringe and pulled a drug in it from within a metal container.

"Is he talking about Banana Fish? You got all this equipment and can only make dud drugs huh?" Asked Shorter smirking.

"You tell us if it's dud or not" Said Abraham as he turned around and looked manically at Shorter.

"Wait what, you're using him as a lab rat?" You questioned your mother and Abraham screaming as you stood in front of Shorter in a protective stance, but it wasn't much of help since Golzine's bodyguards grabbed your arms and dragged you away from Shorter as they pointed their gun towards your head. Good, just like i planned.

When they finally dragged you away from Shorter to the other side of the lab, the group of scientists strapped Shorter up tighter as he tried resisting them. You looked to your left and saw body guards forcefully dragging Eiji. Eiji and you made eye contact for a split second, in that split second he gave you an assuring look that everything will be okay. You let a breath out when you saw Eiji was well and fine when you saw him.

"Begin" Commanded Golzine. Abraham walked towards Shorter with the syringe in his hand, about to ingest him, until Layla tapped on Abraham's shoulder to grab his attention.

"Abraham, let me do the honours. We've finally perfected this drug after years of hard work" Said Layla as she held up a syringe in her hand.

"Of course Layla, anything for you" Said Abraham smirking. Layla slightly smirked back and ingested the drug into Shorter's arm.

Disgusting. You thought when you saw your mother and Abraham being all buddy buddy.

"Damn you bastards, i'll curse you!" Screamed Shorter as he tried resisting them, just like you told him to.

"No, stop!" Screamed Eiji and you as you guys tried getting out of the grasps from the guards, but Eiji himself was as helpless as Shorter and you. Layla injected the drug in to Shorter's arm, making the perfect facade. Good, we need to pretend like he's really getting drugged.

"Watch closely now, this is what Banana Fish is all about" Said Dino proudly to Arthur who stood next to him.

After a few moments, the drug finally took effect on Shorter and his pulse and heart rate shot up. You could see the sweat travelling down his forehead and tension taking over his whole body. Come on Shorter, you can do this. Just a few hours and you'll be back to your old self.

"The hallucinations are starting" Commented Abraham breaking you out of your thoughts.

"Hmm, I can subconsciously make him believe anything now" Said Layla filling Abraham's statement in.

Abraham nodded and grabbed Eiji, jolting him in front of Shorter. Before Abraham could say anything further, you screamed, giving him the signal. "Shorter, you can do it. Don't be scared" You said, hoping Shorter would understand what you were trying to say. The guards that held you down grabbed your arms even harder, one punching you really hard in the stomach, telling you to shut up as you coughed from the pain. Out of the corner of your eyes, you could see your mother clenching her fists as they hurt you. You could see the anger in her eyes as she tried staying as composed as possible in front of Golzine.

"Now, take a good look at his face" Said Abraham as he held Eiji's face in front of Shorter's. In no time, Shorter started screaming, just like you told him to. His screaming and scared demeanour was good enough for everyone in the room to believe he really got injected by Banana Fish.

"That's fear what you're feeling. Your fear has materialised right in front of you. You can't rum from it. And this is what's causing your fear" Said Abraham as he brought Eiji's face closer to Shorter's. "If you don't kill him, you'll suffer from indescribable anguish. Kill him! Tear him apart and pull his guts out. It's the only way to be freed from your misery!" Said Abraham, inflicting Shorter's 'fear' even more.

Shorter squealed and screamed making the perfect facade of pretending to be drugged as Golzine looked content with the product, congratulating Layla for the accomplishment as he gave you pervy glares. You knew what Golzine was like since Ash told you about his disgusting, paedophilic behaviour. You could see how he looked at you, his intentions clearly visible on what he wants from you.

(A/n): ok umm this chapter was kinda hard to write but part 2 of this chapter is getting released in a little while. i'll be explaining about the plan Layla and y/n formed together and back story of Layla's past 4 years.
