You woke up to your annoying alarm again at 8 in the morning while cursing yourself and your job again. You had to make income one way or another so you didn't have a lot of choice. Your wage was pretty ok to pay your expenses and your manager didn't bother you much since you knew what you were doing. You made your way to the coffee shop, completed your shift, and sprinted back to the library after your shift ended at 5. It was always the same: wake up, work, library and sleep. You were grateful for the peace in your life, but you always knew you lacked something.
You sat again in comfortable silence, reading where you left off yesterday, with the blonde sitting a good few meters away from you. Time flew by without you noticing again and it was time to head home. As you and the blonde were about to leave, you glanced where he was sitting at. He eyed you with his stunning emerald green eyes and you made an akward 5 second long eye contact with him. You could've sworn you felt a chill run down in your spine by the way he looked at you.
"Making sure you won't forget your glasses and make me play tag with you, again, like yesterday." You said with a hint of sarcasm.
He softly chuckled and walked towards you. "Thank you, would've been a pain if i lost them."
"It's fine, I feel the pain of losing glasses, also is that the novel 'A catcher in the rye by Salinger'?"Shit why did I ask that.
"Ya it is, Salinger fan I suppose?" He said as he put his book away.
"Hmm, I like his novels especially, because of their meaning behind it" You explained.
"Not to mention, his writing is impeccable" He continued before you finished your sentence.
"Definitely agreed" Holy shit did I just have a normal conversation about Salinger with a stranger?
As you guys made your way to the entrance of the library, the blonde and you talked about some books until you guys reached the bottom of the stairs. As you talked, the blonde noticed your eyes switching from a stoic look to an excited one while talking about books and the library, and got even more curious about who you were.
"Ash"
"Huh?" you asked confused.
"My name, Ash Lynx."
"Oh, sorry, uh y/n, y/n l/n." You said hesitantly.
Ash noticed your hesitation but brushed it off. "Well, nice to meet you y/n."
"Nice to meet you too." You said awkwardly, going trough your long (h/c) hair with your fingers.
You arrived in your apartment and laid down in your bed as you kept repeating the conversation you had with Ash over, and over again. The fact you talked to someone was a big achievement. You contemplated in your head if you'd have a conversation with the blonde again but brushed it off by putting your headphones on and listening to some music while staring at the popcorn ceiling you hated with a burning passion. After hours of doing nothing, you finally fell asleep, just to wake back up the next morning. It was always the same, wake up, go to work, go to the library and sleep. It was pretty boring, your life. But it was what it was.
