"I can't believe you did that, and right after I took a bath as well."
"You have to admit, it was pretty funny." George was standing by the sink, trying to get the flower off of his face. He rolled his eyes but still let a laugh be present.
"It won't come off." George's skin was a bit red from how aggressively he was scrubbing at it. I took out a clean cloth and walked up to him, dampening it under the tap.
"Look at me." He complied and his eyes darted across my features. He smiled when the cold cloth touched his face. I carefully wiped it across his skin, careful to not hurt him.
"There, it's all gone. Do you forgive me now?" I put the cloth away and turned off the tap, the sound of dropping water immediately disappearing.
"No." He laughed and turned back to the cupcake mix, pouring it into the baking tin which had blue paper cups in each dip.
I waited for him to finish then opened the oven which we had preheated. He slid in the tray and I closed the oven door. "Now we wait." He said while staring intently through the glass door.
"So you're just going to stand here and wait?" I placed the dirty bowls and cooking equipment in the sink to clean later. Then the boxes and packaging were thrown into the bin.
George turned around and opened the fridge. I saw him get something out but he hid it behind his back. "What do you have there, George?"
He walked closer to me and laughed, then I felt something gross on my head and a quiet cracking sound. I felt it drip down my face and saw an egg shell land on the floor. My eyes dart up to looks at George's happy expression. "George!"
"That's for throwing flour at me." He stepped away and I rolled my eyes even though his back was turned to me. I took the opportunity and grabbed my bottle of water, opening it and tipping it upside down above George.
He screamed in shock and I fell to the floor, unable to contain my laughter. "Your scream!" I managed to say between laughs.
"What about it? Do you like hearing me scream?" He smirked, seemingly forgetting about the water now dripping from his body.
"You're getting water everywhere." I stood up and took a cloth, wiping down the floor where George was.
"And who's fault would that be?" The corners of his eyes creased from how brightly he was smiling.
"Well I'm going to shower, have fun watching the oven or whatever it is you do." I looked back at him while I walked out of the room and up the stairs.
The shower warmed up quickly and I poured some shampoo onto my hand, then moved it around my hair. I heard a sound behind me and saw George entering the bathroom.
"Hi?" I turned my head to face him, keeping my body facing away.
"I need to shower too." He started undressing, hanging his hoodie onto the radiator to dry. Well, my hoodie.
"There's more than one shower in the house, George." He looked at me and frowned, pretending to be sad. I giggled at the sight and gave in.
"Fine, get in." He smiled and waddled into the shower, taking the shampoo bottle from me. His eyes moved across my body, making my face flush instantly.
"You look good." He smiled and took my hand, pouring some shampoo into it.
"Thanks... But you look better." The grin on his face only got wider. He reminded me of an excited puppy.
I felt my hand being pulled upwards and meeting his soft hair. "What?" I knew what he was trying to get at but pretended I didn't know.
"Can you wash my hair again?" He asked shyly, which made my heart basically explode from the overwhelming happiness he was causing me to feel.
"Of course I can, Georgie." He blushed at the nickname. I wasn't sure where those words even came from but I liked calling him by that name.
For some reason, showering with George felt normal. Natural and comfortable. It wasn't awkward. I massage the shampoo into his scalp like I had done before, and he sighs in relief. His eyes close and he smiles.
"This is nice." He says with his lips still pulled up into a beautiful grin. I laugh and take my hands away. "No... Carry on." He pouts and crosses his arms.
"Okay, okay." A carry on with the comofrting actions and a few minutes later rinse his hair and my hair off. George grabs the shower head and flashes me and evil look.
"George.... What are you doing..?" But before I can get an answer he tilts the shower head up a bit and the water hits me in the face. I stick my hands out to block it while laughing. "George, stop. I don't want to slip." He puts it back down and smiles.
We finish washing and step out of the shower, drying ourself and putting on clean clothes. Well, George puts on what I'd given him before since it was dry now. "Let's go check on the cupcakes." I nod and follow him out of the bathroom.
"Are you going to need me to wash your hair every time now?" He rolls his eyes and doesn't answer. To me, the answer was obvious. He looked happy in the moment and definitely wanted to say yes.
George smells the air and rushes over to the oven. "Oh no, half of them are burnt..." He frowns and opens the oven door, and reaches the tray.
"George wait-" His hand meets the hot tray and he instantly shuffles away from it, holding his hand tightly. His eyes squint up and I can see the pain on his face. He'd forgotten to use something to protect his hands.
