A ding filled the silent office, signaling the arrival of the elevator. A short blonde woman with golden steps stepped out carrying a picnic basket in her right hand. It was around 1 pm and the top floor of where her affluent husband worked was empty as most employees were on their lunch breaks. She knew, however, that her workaholic husband was still holed up in his office going through endless piles of documents instead of eating lunch.
She walked past an empty secretary desk towards a set of double doors. She pushed the doors open, not bothering to knock (she was the only exception to her husband's knocking policy). Lumine opened the doors quietly and poked her head through the entrance to see her husband, Diluc, hunched over his desk intently focused on whatever document had his attention at that time.
She smiled to herself and lightly shook her head in mild disappointment and amusement. She closed the door behind herself with a soft thud. The sound was loud enough in the quiet and spacious office to grab the attention of the red head. Lumine watched her husband look up from his work with slightly widened eyes. To the average person, they wouldn't have noticed that small shift in his expression but after dating him for four years and married two, she knew him well.
"Lumine, what are you doing here?" Diluc asked, getting up from his chair and walking around his sleek black desk.
"Is everything alright?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her slim waist. Lumine couldn't help but giggle at his worried expression much to his confusion.
"Nothing's wrong other than the fact that you're skipping lunch again." Lumine retorted with a playful glare. Her husband had the audacity to look away bashfully.
"Come." Lumine grabbed her husband's hand and pulled him towards the corner of his office where a nice sitting area was set up for when she dropped in to visit him. Whenever she got bored at home, she would come visit him and spend the day with him. Since he was always so busy, she usually lounged about on the couches with her laptop to entertain herself while he worked. She did this frequently so Diluc had made sure to order the best furniture so she was as comfortable as possible. In the far corner opposite of the seating arrangement was a small indoor pond with a mini waterfall. It was relaxing and often put her in a sleepy mood.
Lumine took a seat on the soft couch and pulled Diluc down beside her. She set the picnic basket on the coffee table and started to unpack all the food she had cooked that morning. Diluc watched with a soft smile as she took out containers of crab fried rice, steak, cheesy potatoes, and stir fried vegetables.
Lumine was taking out some utensils when a hand grabbed her chin and turned her head. She soon felt a warm pair of soft lips upon her own. After the initial moment of shock, her body relaxed into the divine kiss. Diluc pulled back and smirked when he saw the glazed over eyes of his petite wife; he loved what his kisses did to her. He moved his hand to her face and gently ran his thumb over her swollen lips.
"Thank you." He whispered, bringing his lips back to hers. Lumine mewed into the kiss and allowed herself to drown in euphoria for a few seconds before pressing her small hands to Diluc's chest. She pulled herself away from his intoxicating lips and blinked several times to clear her mind of the haze it was in.
Lumine glared up at Diluc. "Eat first, kiss later." She scooted away from him a little and focused intently on plating his food for him. Diluc couldn't help himself; although he didn't admit it openly, he missed his wife and loved showering her with affection behind closed doors.
"Here, eat this." Lumine said, handing him a plate of food and a fork.
"Thank you." He said, taking the plate from her hands. "Did you spend all morning cooking?" He asked, taking a bite of her delicious food; he firmly believed his wife is the best cook in the world.
Diluc listened to her talk about her day while she plated her own food. "Not really, it only took me twoish hours to cook the food. After you left, I got some work done and watched some TV."
Lumine turned to Diluc with a smile. "How's the food?" She asked.
"Delicious, as always." He said, leaning over to press a kiss to her cheek. Lumine blinked at him blankly as a blush crept up her cheeks. She abruptly turned her head and focused her attention on her food.
Diluc chuckled to himself. Despite having been together for 6 years now, she was still always shy at his display of affection. They enjoyed the rest of their lunch in the comfort of the other's presence. After Diluc helped her clean up, he tugged her small frame towards his chest and laid down on the couch. Lumine nuzzled her face into his warm chest and allowed her body to relax into his.
"Don't you have work that you need to get back to?" She asked sleepily. Diluc ran his hand through her silk like hair, making her drowsier.
"Aren't you always the one that complains that I work too much?" He teased.
Lumine huffed indignantly; that is true but she also knew how important his work was as the CEO of the largest liquor exporter in the world. All she aimed to do was ensure he at least ate since he had a habit of skipping meals.
"Well I don't know. I just wanted to make sure you at least got something to eat." She mumbled into his chest.
Diluc pressed his lips to Lumine's forehead in a loving kiss. She was always so supportive of him despite him not spending as much time as he would have liked with his busy work schedule. But, despite that, she would always be so understanding, caring, and patient. He loved her, and he would do anything and everything to show her how much she meant to him.
Diluc continued to stroke her hair until he heard her breathing even out. He listened to her steady breathing and allowed it to lull himself into a deep sleep. He wrapped his arms tighter around Lumine and drifted off to sleep with the love of his life in his arms.
