Diluc leaned against the large oak tree with his arms crossed over his chest. His steady cool gaze focused on the beautiful blonde who still hadn't noticed his presence. Diluc watched her confidently swing her sword with practiced precision and graceful control. Jean had long ago stripped off her jacket down to her tank top.
It wasn't a particularly hot day but she didn't mess around during her training. She worked up a sweat quite easily with her intense workout routine. Diluc had stopped by her office hoping to ask her out for a quick lunch when one of the knights informed him that the acting grandmaster had disappeared off to Windrise for a breath of fresh air.
He already knew she was going to be training when the knight mentioned Windrise. Jean always loved training at the spot that closely connected her to her idol, Vennessa.
Diluc pushed off the tree and sauntered his way down to Jean.
"You're skipping lunch again. This isn't a good habit, Jean." Diluc said when he stood a few feet behind Jean.
Jean paused in her sword routine and looked over her shoulder, surprised. She hadn't expected anyone to be here, let alone Diluc.
Diluc smirked at the shock on Jean's face. Her ample chest heaved up and down as she tried to catch her breath. Her skin glistened with sweat and her cheeks were flushed with a cute red hue.
"What are you doing here?" Jean breathed out. She lowered her sword and sheathed it before walking over to Diluc until she stood right in front of him.
Diluc tried to pull her into a hug but she quickly took a step back. He raised an eyebrow, waiting for an explanation.
Jean looked away sheepishly. "I smell like sweat, perhaps hugging me isn't the best thing to do right now."
Diluc rolled his eyes. He grabbed Jean's hand and tugged her towards him and embraced her - sweat and all. He looked down at her. "I don't care, if I want to hug you, I will hug you."
Jean placed her hands on his chest and rolled her eyes but Diluc noticed the way her cheeks deepened in colour.
"Let's head back to the city, I want to have lunch with you before my meetings." Diluc said, bringing a hand up to brush Jean's stray hair out of her face.
Diluc's eyes narrowed when he saw a glint in Jean's eye. It was the same type of glint when she gets struck with an idea. What was his little temptress thinking right now?
Jean stepped out of his arms and backed away from him while keeping her eyes focused on Diluc. Jean had a coy smile on her face as she stepped back.
"Spar with me, just once, and I will have lunch with you."
Diluc looked to the side and rolled his eyes causing Jean to chuckle. She knew how he felt whenever she tried to convince him to spar with her. He rarely did it but she loved when they sparred because it was a good challenge and it brought back memories from when he was her captain and he would train with her.
Diluc looked at her unamused. "No."
Jean breathlessly chuckled, she knew he would respond with that. She shrugged her shoulders. "Okay, then I'll see you later tonight." She said, turning away from him. Diluc frowned and watched her walk further away from him while unsheathing her sword.
His eyes followed her movements as she took her ready stance. She once again began her usual sword routine with absolute graceful fluidity.
Meanwhile, Diluc was silently fuming. 'See you tonight?' No. He wanted to see her now. They were always so busy and there was no guarantee that either one would be home on time tonight with their busy work schedules. It had been so long since he last saw her and he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. He loved being around Jean; many people actually commented on the fact that he seemed to be less...gloomy when she was around. Diluc wholeheartedly disagreed with that.
