Gorou sat atop a cliff and watched the Sangonomiya troops training amongst themselves. Gorou leaned back against his arms and tilted his head upwards towards the sunshine. A breeze briefly passed over his face and Gorou felt a brief pang in his heart. It was such a simple and innocent reminder of who was not with him now.
When Gorou first met Kazuha, he was immediately smitten with the wandering samurai. They came across each other's path frequently since they were both involved in the same cause of ending the vision hunt decree.
They became close quite quickly but their time together didn't last long since Kazuha never stayed for long - he always got restless staying in one place. Gorou never really talked to Kazuha about the loneliness he felt because he didn't feel it was right for him to ask Kazuha to change his lifestyle.
Gorou started laying back when he felt a familiar presence near him. He jolted up and bounded for his camp. Gorou's heart raced and a smile curled on his face when he felt the familiar breeze that surrounded Kazuha. He pushed into his large tent and chuckled when he saw Kazuha sitting crossed legged on top of the bedding.
"Kazuha." Gorou grinned. "I wasn't expecting you for another couple months."
Kazuha smiled at Gorou and stood up. He approached the commander and hugged him tightly. The two stood in peaceful silence, just embracing each other.
Gorou was the first one to pull back. His arms remained wrapped around Kazuha's waist. "How were your travels?"
Kazuha pondered the question while pulling Gorou down to sit beside him. "Good. Beidou and I travelled to Mondstadt. There is a traveller from Mondstadt that will play a vital role in our fight against the Shogun. You will meet her soon, she has proven herself to be a key ally in our cause."
Gorou quirked an eyebrow. He was intrigued but very glad to hear the good news.
"And you? How have you been?" Kazuha asked, turning to look at Gorou.
Gorou took some time to ponder how he's been the last couple months that Kazuha was gone. His work has gone as it should, nothing new really came up. The only thing that was memorable to Gorou was the way he felt. He wasn't as happy as he used to be when Kazuha was around more often. But that wasn't something that he could tell Kazuha right now, or ever.
Kazuha was observant though, especially when it came to Gorou so he noticed the way that Gorou's mood dropped while he was thinking.
"What's wrong?" Kazuha asked. Kazuha noticed the way Gorou hesitated so he asked again.
Gorou sighed. He cracked his knuckles out of a nervous habit. The action did not go unnoticed by Kazuha.
"I've been well but...it's been lonely without you." Admitted Gorou, looking away.
Kazuha's eyes widened slightly. He hadn't expected this sort of answer but he did guess that Gorou wasn't the biggest fan of his nomad lifestyle. And honestly, even Kazuha was starting to question it.
He realized that every time he left Gorou, he felt a pang in his heart and when he was away, he longed to be back at camp with Gorou. While Kazuha was away, he thought about his lifestyle a lot. Travelling and always being on the move kept his soul at peace but he recently found that he became restless when he was too far from Gorou.
He decided it was time to make changes to his life and it was the reason he came back earlier than usual.
Kazuha rested his hand on Gorou's shoulder, drawing the attention of the man. Kazuha didn't like seeing the troubled look on the man's face - he wanted to put Gorou at ease.
"I have...missed you as well. I came back early because I actually wanted to discuss something with you."
Gorou furrowed his brows. "What is it?"
Kazuha smiled at Gorou. "I have decided I will travel less and if I do travel, I will take shorter trips."
Gorou's eyes widened. "You're being serious right now?" Gorou asked; he couldn't believe what he heard.
Kazuha threw his head back and laughed, the sound was melodic to Gorou's ears.
Kazuha reached for Gorou's hand and gently squeezed it. "Yes. I'd be a fool to stay away any longer."
It took Gorou a while to get over the shock of Kazuha's news but once he did, he laughed joyously.
Gorou tackled Kazuha to the ground and straddled his hips. He leaned forward and peppered kisses all over a laughing Kazuha's face. Gorou wasn't one to show so much affection this openly, but this was a special occasion.
