You walk through the church doors just as Sister Victoria was leaving.
"Good morning, Sister!" You bow slightly to the nun.
"Good morning, Y/N, how are you today?" Sister Victoria smiled warmly.
"I am feeling fantastic. I was wondering, have you seen Barbara-sama?"
Sister Victoria nodded. "She went to Good Hunter's to get a drink but she'll be back shortly. She mentioned that if I saw you to tell you to head on over to the infirmary. Today you will be helping her replenish the city's medicine supply."
You thanked Sister Victoria for the information and waved goodbye to her. You make your way to the infirmary in the back and decide to get a head start on the medicines. You first go through the inventory in the supply room and take note of all the potions, balms, and pills that needed to be replenished.
You were currently working under Barbara-sama's tutelage. You had moved to Mondstadt not too long ago from the nation of Fontaine. You had disagreed with the lavish and ostentatious life-style of that region so you packed up your belongings and wandered aimlessly until you came across Mondstadt. You instantly clicked with the people and life-style here so you have decided this would be the start of your new life.
Back in Fontaine you worked at the city's hospital but you left before you really learned anything. When you came to Mondstadt you decided to continue with that line of work. You had met Barbara when you accidentally walked into her and made her spill her chili drink. You profusely apologized to her and offered to buy her a new one. In that time, you two talked and really hit it off. Barbara came to learn of your goals and you learned that Barbara was the city's best healer. You immediately begged her to take you under her tutelage since you also wanted to be a healer and you conveniently had a hydro vision, just like Barbara.
It took some convincing but Barbara agreed and you have been working with her at the Church ever since. You had learned so much both about medicines and about Barbara. It was safe to say that in the last several months that you've closely worked with her, you developed a crush on your teacher.
You hoped that it was nothing but a puppy crush because you were almost certain that Barbara would not return your feelings. She had agreed to be your teacher out of the goodness of her heart, it would make things a lot more complicated if feelings were involved.
"Y/N?" You heard your name being called by a soft voice. You poke your head out of the door and notice Barbara standing in the hall with two drinks in her hand.
"Good morning, Barbara-sama." You greet your mentor.
"Oh, there you are! Good morning, this is for you." You gratefully took the iced sweet tea from her.
"Thank you, Barbara-sama." You noticed the way that Barbara slightly cringed at the honorifics. She had told you before to simply call her by her name but you found yourself unable to address your superior in such a casual manner.
Barbara respected your decision but it didn't mean she agreed with it.
"Anytime YN. Did Sister Victoria by chance tell you what the plans were for today?"
You nodded. "Yep! She said I would be helping you replenish the medicine supplies. That's why I was in here, I was taking inventory of what we have."
Barbara smiled and chuckled behind her hand. "You're always so diligent YN. I'm so grateful to have such a hardworking student like yourself."
You knew it was a compliment but it didn't stop you from feeling the little pang in your heart. You wished you weren't JUST a student. You wishfully hoped that you could be more but the chances of that happening was nil.
