Bullet After Bullet
Rick had agreed to meet with the Governor, taking Daryl and Hershel along with him. Daryl, probably for extra protection, to scare the enemy with his crossbow and hard stares. Hershel gave good advice and Rick appreciated that, but I still wasn't comfortable with him being out there. At the end of the day, Hershel was still an old man with a missing leg.
My mind was racing all day, and Merle's antagonistic attitude didn't help. He was using Glenn's leadership to his advantage, trying to force him into attacking the Governor right now. I understood he was worried about Daryl, but he was acting like he was the only one who cared. After actually physically fighting with Glenn, Merle was finally put in his place. For Daryl's sake, I hoped he learnt to live with us.
Daryl's bike soon drowned out the noise in my head. I watched as it came up the dirt path with the car behind it, parking and quickly running inside to shelter. I dropped my gun to my side as Rick gathered us in the block.
"So, I met this Governor. Sat with him for quite a while. He wants the prison, he wants us gone. Dead. He wants us dead for what we did to Woodbury."
"We're going to war."

"And then when you run out, you just pull this bit out and load it again." I handed the gun over into Beth's timid hands. I thought it was best for her to know, with the Governor's threats looming over us.
"I put extra bullets on the catwalk and in the bus, so if you do run out you know where to go." I finished telling her. She didn't like the idea of using a gun against people but she understood what it meant to protect her family. She thanked me and tucked the gun away, leaving when she saw Daryl approaching. As he sat down, I took my own gun out, placing bullets in the chamber.
"You ain't fighting. I want you to protect the kid, and Hershel." He told me. I wasn't surprised he wanted me away from the battle, which is why I didn't raise my voice.
"I can help. You've seen me shoot."
"What we're doing out there, that's not something I want you to be a part of." Daryl repeated.
I dropped my gun on the table in exasperation. "And I'm supposed to listen to you? You're not my father. I shot him, remember? You don't want me to be a part of it? I already am." I seethed. He couldn't protect me from this world, it was about time he gave up.
He was quite taken aback by my sudden honesty. He started to reply but I glared at him, taking my gun and going to my cell. He had a point. Now I was starting to regret getting so mad at him. Someone had to protect Judith and Hershel. Even Beth, too. I guess it was down to me.
