It's Been A Chaotic Few Days For Me
It had been a long night and I just wanted to go somewhere I could feel comfortable. Naturally, my feet directed me towards the infirmary. It was about time I checked on Tara again.
"Hey." I greeted Rosita as I walked in, knitting my eyebrows at her gleeful expression. That's when I saw Tara, not lying but sitting up in bed, her eyes sleepy but open. "You're awake." I rushed to her side.
"How're you feeling?" I asked softly. I checked her over once, before seeing the sadness in her eyes.
"Noah, he..." She managed to get out, but stopped herself when her eyes teared up. I glanced at Rosita and I could tell from her face that she had told the woman in bed.
"You just rest, okay?" I assured her as I walked over to Rosita. "Pete's dead. I don't know if there's another doctor here-" I started in a low voice.
"There is." She smiled encouragingly, and I realised she meant me. My brain span slightly with nerves. Everyone had mentioned how brilliant Pete's work was, I didn't think I could ever live up to that.
I heard grunts of pain as the door opened, seeing Glenn and Nicholas limping over, covered in blood. "Oh my god, what happened to you?" He dropped Nicholas onto a spare bed and I gestured for Rosita to treat him, taking Glenn to a chair.
"Glenn?" Maggie's voice sounded from the door, and she walked in in a panic, seeing her husband's injuries. I cleaned the blood off his face, sticking band aids on the smaller cuts.
"We were out there. The walkers and- we're all right. Got winged by a ricochet." He explained, and I noticed the gunshot on his arm. I felt rage bubbling inside me, turning my glare to Nicholas. Good thing it was just a graze.
"Did he do this?" I mumbled, patching up his arm.
He nodded, noticing my furious expression. "Hey, I'm sorting it. You just focus on what you need to do."
I sighed with frustration but listened, taping a cut on his cheek shut. If anyone could sort it out, it was Glenn.
"All done. Try to stay off that ankle for a while." I stepped back.
"Thanks, Belle. I feel better already." He smiled, leaning back in his chair as Maggie sat beside him.

By the time I left the infirmary, the sun was rising. My hands were covered in blood and I really needed to change my clothes, but I couldn't leave in the middle of a crisis like that.
"Enid!" I called over, seeing her walking towards the wall with a backpack on. I could tell she was about to leave. "You going again?"
She nodded, pulling the straps of her bag up.
"Can't you stay, just for a while. It's just...with everything going on, you know?" I hesitantly asked. I was surprised when she agreed.
"I went out yesterday, with Carl...I think he likes you." She said offhandedly. I furrowed my eyebrows in thought. Maybe she was right, maybe that's why it was so awkward between us now. But that didn't make sense, did it? I kissed him, but he pushed me away. Enid stared at me with an impatient gaze, waiting for me to speak.
"Just...next time you go out, promise you'll take me with you? You're kind of the only person I like around here."
Enid gave me a smile before turning, heading back home. "Sure."
I scrunched my hands into fists, noticing the blood was turning sticky. Time to shower, finally.
I kicked my shoes off at the door of the house, cleaning myself and checking my reflection. The cut on my forehead was almost gone and my ribs had faded into light yellow bruises.
