Kill People To Save People, That's How The World Works
My jacket was forced over my head in a disorientating sweep, my feet shuffling through the leaves as I was dragged somewhere I couldn't see. I was shoved into a car as the leader relayed orders to her group, but I ignored her as my wrists were firmly taped together, a rag tied around my mouth. It would take a long time to cut myself free. I could feel the car rumbling as it took off, swaying at every twist and turn.
It eventually stopped and I yelped when arms grabbed my shoulders, feeling the pain in my right one. I heard the sound of a metal door scraping and a damp smell filled the air. My jacket was pulled down and I realised we were in some kind of slaughterhouse, with the tiled walls and bloodstained floors. The safe house.
I watched as Maggie and Carol were instructed to sit on either side of the room, their feet being taped together. The leader gestured for me to sit against a third wall and I did with a glare, reluctantly allowing my own feet to be restricted.
I watched the Saviors pacing in and out of the room. There was Donnie, a man who's arm was injured, he was losing blood fast and he had a temper. An older woman who walked slowly and appeared worn out after completing simple tasks. A young woman around Maggie's age who seemed mostly level headed and was probably the most physically strong in the group. And the leader, a red haired woman who I couldn't quite figure out. Between the three of us, we could take them out given the chance.
I knew there were walkers pinned to the walls and floor outside for protection, and the door was a few paces down the hall and to the left. Now I just needed to figure out how to get the hell out of here.
We were left alone in the empty room, not a weapon or person in sight besides the two women sitting around me. As soon as the leader left, I scanned the area, trying to find anything I could use. In the most desperate times, anything could be a weapon. Maggie got to work trying to break her binds, scraping the tape against the wall. I tried to pick at the tape around my ankles, but I wasn't sure if my fingers could work hard enough with such tight restrictions.
I returned my position when Carol started hyperventilating, her eyes watery and her face turning pink. I shared a look of confusion with Maggie, my frown only being stopped by the rag in my mouth. I knew Carol had a way of changing her character to fit the situation, altering her attitude in whichever way could save her life. She did it at the prison, she did it in Alexandria. I couldn't tell if she was really panicking this time or if she was just an amazing actress.
The Saviors returned and I furrowed my eyebrows, mimicking Maggie as she yelled for attention. The older woman, Molly, passed a rope to the leader and she tied it around Donnie's bleeding arm. I could already tell he would lose it soon enough.
"Hey!" Maggie's muffled voice called out, shuffling in her seat. "Hey!"
Carol hadn't stopped panting, they were just choosing to ignore her. The leader finally rolled her eyes and removed Maggie's rag, allowing her to speak.
"She's hyperventilating. Somebody needs to take her gag off." She finally got out, gesturing to Carol. Molly waddled over, removing the cloth and letting her swallow the stuffy air.
"She's a nervous little bird, ain't she?" She sighed.
I heard a hammer click and the strong woman, Michelle, pointed her gun at Carol, a scowl on her face. "Look at you. Bitch, how did you make it this far?"
The door swung open and Daniel had a shocked expression on his face when he walked straight into the gun in my hand, pointed directly at him. He didn't even have any time to yell at me as I unloaded two bullets right into his head.
