New Face In Town

I hadn't seen Morgan since the night he arrived. When he returned with Daryl and Aaron, seeing Rick hovering over Pete's dead body.

I had heard about him several times. When he found Rick right at the start of the outbreak, teaching him about the world and even giving him a tip about where his wife and son could've gone.

Then again, when Rick, Michonne and Carl went back to their hometown and he was still there, holed up in a small apartment with the biggest arsenal in possibly the whole world, surrounded by walker and human traps alike.

But the man in Alexandria now seemed to be a whole different person. He had a certain lightness about him, like every time he spoke it was a prophecy. I knew he helped Daryl and Aaron out when they found him, so I welcomed him in like everyone else. But there was something off about him today.

He stood outside an unoccupied house, his familiar staff in hand as he swapped his weight from one foot to another. He looked nervous, or deep in thought.

"Morgan." I called out, walking over. When he saw me approaching, his body language changed instantly and he appeared my relaxed. I figured it was just an act.

"Annabelle, right? Rick told me about you." He smiled, and I briefly wondered what Rick would have to say about me.

"You okay?" I asked. I was curious about why he was standing here specifically. Now that I thought about it, he could've been standing guard. When he noticed my glance towards the house behind him, he quickly brought my attention back to him.

"You're a doctor, right?" I nodded my head, my eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"Yeah, are you hurt? Is it your arm, because I can check that out." I noticed the injury from his rolled up sleeves.

"No, uh, it's not for me." His eyes cast down to the splint on my wrist. "Your hand?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "One of them people broke it. It's gonna be fine in a couple weeks. Did you need something?" He was acting kind of strange, but I figured maybe he was just getting used to the place like I was when I first got here.

"It's fine." He said and I walked home. That was weird.
