I Wish I Could Wipe My Mind Clean
I woke up the next morning to birds tweeting outside. I stretched my muscles and pressed the back of my hand to my mouth to stifle the yawn that escaped. Carl was nowhere to be seen, his side of the bed already made. I got out and tucked the sheet in, brushing my fingers through my hair. He was probably downstairs.
"Morning." Michonne greeted as I walked down the steps, the sleepiness still present on my features. She had a sort of amused expression, mixed with something that could've been confusion. Her hand paused as she brought her coffee mug up to her lips. "Did you stay here last night?" She curiously asked.
I shrugged. "Yeah, why?" She didn't say anything, just sipped her drink. I frowned, sitting at the table with her.
"How was the party?" I hadn't seen much of Michonne last night, but I knew she was one of the people who were eager to get here.
She thought for a moment before saying, "It was a nice change of pace."
I said goodbye and went back home, hopping in the shower and getting dressed. I held the purple dress in my hands, examining it. Maybe I should keep it for another time.
I brushed my hair into a knot, the shortest strands floating against my forehead as I made my way downstairs, seeing Glenn packing a bag.
"Going somewhere?" He looked up at the sound of my voice.
"Uh, yeah...I'm going on a run-"
"Can I come?" I asked instantly. I would love to get out of here. Glenn contorted his face into one of consideration, but I knew he would say no. "Please," I begged, "I'll be safe. You know I'm good out there."
He seemed reluctant but finally said, "Fine. But if Daryl asks, I told you to stay." I grinned, going upstairs to fetch my sword and a small bag.
I followed him to the van, tossing my bag in the back and seeing who was coming with us. Tara and Noah stood outside the van in the middle of a conversation. Even Eugene was coming along, something about identifying the right equipment.
"What the hell are they doing here?" I saw Aiden and Nicholas walking over, guns in their hands as they passed them out.
Noah replied quietly. "They're in charge of the run. We gotta do whatever they say."
I rolled my eyes, making him laugh as we hopped in the van. Aiden switched the radio button and loud music blasted from the speakers, making me flinch. These guys were assholes.
I sat with my back against the wall, adjusting the gun in my hand so the silencer fit against it. Noah was beside me and we knocked against each other whenever we went over a bump. With each bump, his pencil scrawled across the page of his notebook.
We stopped at the warehouse and I shut my eyes, appreciating the quiet again. I strapped my sword over my shoulder and checked my knife, taking the gun into my hands.
"Looks like that door is our fastest way in and out." Aiden gestured to the front door.
"We should check for other exits before we go in." I told him, taking the safety off my gun. He turned from the van and looked at me with exasperation, before turning to Glenn.
"What did you bring a kid for, anyway?" I inwardly groaned, unsheathing my sword.
"Listen, asshole-" Glenn stopped me from walking any closer, his hand on shoulder. From behind him, Aiden glared at me.
"Belle, why don't you take care of them?" He pointed a few feet away where two walkers were stumbling over and I sighed, holding my sword up. I marched over and took them out in once swing, flicking the blood off the blade as I walked back over, my eyes narrowed at the two Alexandrians.
