After a while, Jimin started worrying about you taking so long to get back. He headed to the reception, knowing the restrooms were right next to it, and found a waitress.
"Excuse me, madam, my friend went to freshen up a while ago and she hasn't come back. Would you mind checking up on her?"
"Of course sir, I'll be right back" she said with a little nod and put down some dirty dishes she was holding before heading to the ladies' room.
She came back almost immediately. "I'm sorry, sir, there's no one in there" she said apologetically and Jimin furrowed his eyebrows. "Give me a minute, I'll ask the receptionist" the woman informed him and he waited once more.
Jimin looked around the dining area wondering if you had gone back to the table when he walked away from it. He turned the corner to look at your still vacant chair and then walked back to the front.
A man who he recognized from earlier approached him with a hesitant face and the corner of his lips dropped helplessly.
"Sir, I saw a young lady walk out a few minutes ago. I believe she'd walked in with you" he looked genuinely sorry and Jimin felt a mix of embarrassment and anger.
If you didn't want to go out with him, you should have said you weren't interested instead of making up and excuse to leave him hanging.
"Thank you" he said dryly and asked the waitress for the check before heading back to his table.
Jimin was mad you'd left, but mostly heartbroken. It seemed like you two were having fun. Maybe you weren't nervous just because it was new to you, had you been too polite to say no?
Then again you had left without a word, so maybe it wasn't about manners. He was confused and hurt that you'd do something like that though. You seemed to be the honest type, but apparently he had been wrong.
He asked to have his food wrapped to go, he had lost his appetite, and left for the dorms. So much for meeting someone new and interesting. This was so frustrating.
Jimin was disappointed, but not surprised really. When you're first getting to know someone, the possibilities of what they might turn out to be like and what might happen are exciting.
That starts to fade as you learn about them and the thrill of the unknown is no longer there. At least this behavior had arisen early on so he didn't invest too much time into it. Appearances are deceiving.
It was sad, he really liked what he had seen of you. For a moment there he was hopeful he'd found a woman worth his time. Someone honest and genuine that would appreciate him for who he is.
"How did it go today?" Jimin looked up from his phone when he heard Hobi's voice as he walked in the room later that night.
"Just another flop, hyung" he replied with a sigh and the older one could tell just how disheartened he was. His dongsaeng didn't seem to have better luck than he did.
Occasionally they had talked about how it would be nice to be special to someone*, to have a more intimate connection. The kind that is unlike the ones they have with their close friends or family.
"The right person will come along eventually, Jimin-ah" Hobi said sitting at the edge of his bed with a comforting smile. He knew how discouraging it was, he'd been looking for years. They didn't have enough time really, so it was mostly that.
"I know, I just thought she was different" Jimin replied putting his phone aside. You were blunt enough, he figured you would have told him if you were not into him from the go.
