"Why are you still staying by my side even if I'm so fucked up?" he asked.
"It's because I like you."
"But it's her that I like."
I smiled. "I don't care."
He sighed. "Why do people fall in love with people they can't be with?" and then he looked at me. "Do you like me that much for you to endure all the pain that you're feeling whenever I talk about her?"
I shrugged and smiled. "I guess so."
His phone suddenly rang and so he quickly answered it. "Jane?"
With him mentioning her name made my heart break. She needs him again. Jane and her boyfriend had a fight again. She needs someone to rely on again, and that 'someone' is Calum.
Calum. The guy that I liked and I always will. The guy that makes my heart beat fast, and at the same time, breaks it. But I don't care, I don't care if he's the reason for every pain that I'm feeling whenever he's with Jane. Maybe that's how much I like him.
I came back to my senses when he suddenly called my name.
"Sorry, Camila. It looks like i can't take you home. Uhh-"
"It's okay. I know, she needs you again. You can go." I said as I faked a smile.
He hugged me quickly as he said goodbye and went away, leaving me here alone. It's always been like this, Calum leaving me for Jane because she needs him.
I was just sitting here on the bench at the soccer field, looking up at the sky while my eyes were closed. 'Till suddenly, someone poked my cheek.
I opened my eyes as I looked at my side. And when I saw who it was, I just rolled my eyes at him and gave him an annoyed look.
"What now?" irritated, i asked.
"Did Calum leave you again?" he asked with a smirk formed on his lips.
"Go away, jerk."
"Why do you keep on pushing me away?" his face suddenly turned serious.
"It's 'cause I hate you."
"But I like you, Camila."
"Please, Luke, don't say things that you don't even mean."
"You always say that. How many times should I tell you that I do mean every word that I'm saying to you?"
"Luke, sorry. But I can't like you back. You know whom I'm in love with."
I stood up and was about to leave him when he said, "I hope you'll realize that you're gonna lose a guy who's been loving you for years."
As if I care.
It was Christmas break already. No Luke has visited here yet, well, 'cause he usually goes here. My Mom even asked me if I know the reason why.
"Do you miss Calum?" my sister asked.
I looked at her. "What? No."
"Then what are you thinking about? You've been spacing out since you woke up this morning."
"It's just that, my conscience is killing me."
"Is it about Luke?"
I sighed and nodded. "He hasn't been.. you know.. doing the things that he used to do.."
"But I thought you hated it when he's around?" confused, she asked.
"Yeah, but..."
"Just say it. You miss him, right?"
"No way!"
"Of course, knowing Camila, she doesn't like telling the truth."
"Hey! I am-"
I wasn't able to finish what I was about to say when I heard my Mom call my name from downstairs. "Camila! Luke's here!"
"Ohh, Luke's here." my sister teased. I rolled my eyes at her.
I walked downstairs and then I saw Luke sitting on our couch. I cleared my throat and asked, "What are you doing here?"
He stood up but then I motioned for him to just stay where he is as I sat beside him.
"I just wanted to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"I'm leaving."
"W-What?"
"I'm going back to Sydney and stay there."
"Oh..."
I was taken aback with what he said. Why is he leaving? Why... Ugh. It's not like I want him to stay!
"So yeah, I need to go. I just came here to say that."
He stood up and walked his way outside our house while I was left here, realizing things that I should've realized a long time ago.
I sighed as I stood straight and rang the doorbell of Luke's house. Ugh, this is crazy, but what the hell. It's now or never.
"Luke!" I said as I hugged him when he opened the front door of their house.
"Whoa, easy there. What's with you?"
I faced him and said, "I'm sorry. Sorry for realizing this just now. Sorry if I've pushed you away so many times. Sorry if I'm always causing you pain. I'm really really sorry, Luke. I may not like you that much as much as you like me, but I know, I'm getting closer there. Luke, I don't want you to leave. Please, just don't."
He smiled at me. "About that leaving thing, I was just kidding. But I guess my plan worked."
He suddenly hugged me which made my heart race like crap. "I'm glad that I never stopped chasing you." he said.
I smiled. "I'm glad that you didn't. Because if you ever did, maybe I wouldn't have realized that it was you. That it has always been you."
