Hotaru's POV

"Come on, Firefly, let's go!" crimson eyes shined into mine, beaming wildly.

"Katsu, you're going too fast!" I whined.

I sprinted through the park, gasping as I tried to keep up with the ash blonde boy in front of me. Skidding over mulch, ducking under the jungle gyms, other kids' feet and legs kicking as we snaked through the playground. Hopping over the wooden barrier of the playground, sliding in the damp grass before catching my balance and taking off after him again.

"Katsuki! You gotta slow down! I almost ate it!" I bellowed, pumping my arms and legs as I was finally gaining on him.

"Not my problem, Firefly! You gotta keep up! How else are you gonna be my sidekick?" He yelled over his shoulder at me, laughing maniacally.

My lungs burned and my legs were tired from the strain of running. My feet tried to dig into the rain soaked field, searching for purchase, as we finally made it to our favorite tree, the biggest tree in the park. Katsu turned to me, grabbing my hand before dragging me up the remainder of the hill. Standing in front of the tree, he crouched down, cupping his hands together to give me a boost up in order to reach the lowest branch. Hopping up, I threw my arms around the branch, sneakers gripping at the bark of the trunk as I pulled myself and swung my leg over the branch. Hugging onto the tree, I lowered my hand down, reaching for Katsuki as he jumped, launching himself up to me with a small blast from his hand. He grabbed my forearm as I pulled him up, helping him steady in front of me. Sighing tiredly, I leaned back against the tree trunk, softly petting the small carved indent in the bark.

A small smile crept on my face as I lightly traced the letters before I felt a harsh pinch on my cheek, pulling my face towards Katsuki.

"What the hell Kat! That hurts, let go!" I batted his hand away as he clicked his tongue, flicking me in the nose before removing his backpack, turning his gaze back to me with a glare and motioning for me to cover my eyes.

"Don't look! I have a surprise. No peeking!" the blonde boy ordered. Rolling my eyes, I listened, squeezing my eyes shut, covering them with my hands.

"If you push me outta this tree, so help me Katsuki Bakugou,"

"Oh shut up. Like I would actually push you out of a tree," he grumbled as I heard him shuffling around in his bag."Okay! Open!"

I dropped my hands and in front of me was Katsu beaming proudly with the most adorable stuffed orange bunny in his outstretched arms. "Katsuki!!! It's so cute!!!" I grabbed the plush bunny, hugging it tightly to my chest.

"It reminded me of you, it has the same stupid face as you. And orange is my favorite color! So it's supposed to remind you of both of us." Katsuki rubbed the back of his neck nervously, looking anywhere but my face as a faint blush crept along his cheeks and ears. I felt my eyes begin to water. I sniffled, throwing my arms around the red eyed boy.

"Happy Birthday, Firefly."

"Thank you, Katsu. He's perfect. I love him!"

Present Time

I felt something rough gently brush my cheek causing my eyes to flutter open. As my vision adjusted to the room, Katsuki's crimson eyes slowly came into focus, his fingers lightly running up and down my cheek.
