A/N

Hey y'all! So, because I am a hot mess of an individual, I decided to make a liar out of myself and go ahead with posting an update. I finished 3 of my exams and only have 1 left. In the spirit of celebration, here is a rather chaotic chapter!

This is going to be another flashback chapter, then we will be back to the main story! The Timeline for this chapter is going to be a little jumpy, I did my best to make it smooth. Also, it's going to be pretty cringe, so TW for inappropriate behaviors and grooming. I promise it ties into the main plot. Enjoy the ride. ~~Tilly~~

Hotaru POV

It had been several weeks since Touya's outburst at my attitude, but he had been really sweet trying to make up for scaring me. He had apologized; he told me he was just upset because he worries about me going anywhere without him which made me happy to hear. He actually cared about me and not because Uncle told him he was supposed to.

The sun was warm as it kissed my face, the wind carrying the salty scent of the ocean making me smile as I dug my toes deeper into the sand. Uncle had agreed to let me spend the day at the beach with Melissa and Lydia as long as Touya came with me. I watched my friends splash around in the water as I made small designs in the sand, twirling my fingers making spirals, circles, and flowy shapes. The sun was beating down, highlighting how 'ghost white' I was according to Lydia and Mel; who were blessed with the ability to tan and were a golden glow during summer. A shadow soon eclipsed the sun above me, shocking my eyes and adjusting to the change in light as a small chill from the lack of sun shivered through me. With a grunt, Touya flopped onto the sand beside me, stabbing the handle of an umbrella into the ground behind us. His bare chest had a few, small purple patches like his arms and neck, but his body was still a sight; defined abs and chest, his arms toned as he stretched to ruffle my hair quickly before situating himself.

"Dollface, if you're going to be in the sun, you gotta be smart about it. Keep this up and you'll look like a fucking lobster by lunch." He popped a cigarette in his mouth, igniting the tip of his pinky, and puffing.

"You know, you aren't allowed to smoke on the beach." I muttered, picking up a handful of sand and letting it fall through my fingers as Touya let out a snort.

"Since when am I one to follow rules, Dollface? Besides, what the fuck are they going to do, tell me to leave?" He sneers at me, exhaling a cloud of smoke in my direction, triggering my nose to scrunch as my heart flutters. The familiar scent of his rolled cigarettes; He always smelled like burnt tobacco and oak, it made me giddy.

"That's fair." I hum, gathering more sand as I get lost in drawing more shapes and patterns in my little damp pile. I couldn't help but wonder why Uncle had been gone so much lately, usually he would only be gone for a week, then home the rest of the month, but the last three months he had only been home for a total of maybe ten days. It wasn't all bad as I got to spend more time with Touya, and we were getting closer which made me happy, yet I couldn't help but feel a little sad. I didn't have any other family, my sisters had made it abundantly clear they didn't want me after everything that happened with Mom and Dad. Uncle was all I had left, and even if he was strict, I missed him. As my thoughts began to trail down the dark path that was my family, I was shocked back to the present by the cold sensation of sun block being dripped down my back, causing me to squeal and flinch.

"Hold still, Doll. If you don't let me do this now, then you're going to burn even worse." Touya's voice was muffled as his cigarette hung from his mouth while both his hands began to massage the cold lotion over my shoulders and back. I felt goosebumps raise on my arm, my skin vibrating softly under his touch. He had gotten pretty good at blocking off his emotions whenever he had to touch me, so thankfully it wasn't too overwhelming as it normally was when I made skin to skin contact with others. It was the little things like that which made me appreciate him. His hands worked slowly over my shoulders up to my neck, thumbs pressing into my flesh as they moved along my spine and trailing back down. Gliding over my shoulder blades, ribs, and running along the band of my swim top before he traced his finger along my spine again back to my shoulders and began rubbing small circles into my muscles.
